P3D FUZE

I'll be honest, Prep3D has never been on my Radar. :sneaky:
For those of you who run it, more power to you.
Prep3D was always meant to be "profession grade" sim software.
Its target audience was always meant to be actual flight schools, airline sim centers, and now the Military.
The idea was to develop simulation software that didn't rely on full-motion simulators while using the "core" of FSX without breaking the bank.

Again, if you're a fan, more power to you. :ernaehrung004:

P3D was never meant for us.

Mark my words: soon all of us will be without sims except for the legacy ones..

We'll have to go back to the cartoonish ones or DCS.

There was a time when P3D came out every one here was all elated with its release and was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
As an octogenarian, it doesn't matter to me as much as it use to. I was just sharing info that I came across. I am still young at heart but
slightly older in other places.....

I can tell you from experience that moving to P3D v4.5 from FSX:SE just over 12 months ago is one of the best things I have ever done. If you see it on sale grab it while you can before it goes the way of the dinosaur! Most native FSX aircraft will move over and all your add-on scenery can be used directly from the FSX library location with no need to reinstall. The performance of 64 bit P3D v4.5 is stunning compared to FSX, better looking, no OOMs any more and FPS that is usually in the high 60s regardless of what or where I fly (it will sometimes drop to low 30s in extreme cases but it is always smooth even then).

As I understand it, one of the few things that will not directly transfer is Ultimate Traffic 2, which I use and have made a bunch of custom airline and charter flight plans to fill airports in southeast Florida and the Bahamas. Evidently the issue is that UT2 uses FS9 aircraft models and P3D does not like FS9 models at all. That would mean replacing those models with FSX native versions and that does sound like a fair amount of work.

No P3D will not use FS9 models at all. They must be FSX at minimum, with the correct internal and external models and no .gau gauges.

For use as AI in P3Dv4, does a model actually need an interior MDL - or will it be enoough to use an FSX portover MDL ? Just wondering . . .

I just checked all the AI models in my P3D v4.5 and they only use the external model file BUT all are compiled for either FSX, P3D v2 or P3D v4. My guess is that a FS9 model still wouldn't work as an AI aircraft BUT how hard would it be to open the model in MCX and export as an FSX or P3D model?
