The "Spitfire K5054 90th Anniversary Circumnavigation of the UK: May 2026" event

START DATE: May 1, 2026

END DATE: May 31, 2026

You are cordially invited to participate in the "Spitfire K5054 90th Anniversary Circumnavigation of the UK: May 2026", a nine flight circumnavigation of the UK in a two seat Spitfire (BS410) that has been repainted to match the prototype Spitfire K5054. The nine real world flights were completed in just under 10 hours of flying time earlier this month.

Here is the link to the event thread in All Sims Adventures:

"All Sims Adventures" is a subforum of the "Around The World Race/Multiplayer Events" forum.

The General Route:

And here is Spitfire BS410 repainted in K5054 markings:

You get extra credit for flying a Spitfire, or even a TR9 two-seat Spitfire, but any aircraft you choose to fly is welcome.
Or you could choose to fly one of the escorting aircraft as well.

Here are the escorts for the nine flights:

Flight 1: F-35B Lightning, then BBMF Dakota & Spitfire Mk.Vb.
Flight 2: 2x Red Arrows Hawk T1s & Phenom T1.
Flight 3: P-8 Poseidon.
Flight 4: 2x Typhoons.
Flight 5: 2x Hawk T2s.
Flight 6: RAF Texan T1, then Jupiter HT1 helicopter.
Flight 7: 2x QinetiQ Pilatus PC21s.
Flight 8: A400M Atlas.
Flight 9: BBMF Dakota.

The UK Tour is structured around two important factors; Having Fun, and Having Fun. Not a Race, no Time Constraints, no complicated Rules other than the Route itself. However, it is highly encouraged that Participants post a Travelogue of your Flights along with some Screenshots, describing your journey in whatever manner tickles your fancy; a Story, simple Description, etc.

There is a Thread in the All Sims Adventures Forum dedicated to this Event.
If you desire, you may start your own Thread in All Sims Adventures documenting your Flights as well.

So, if you're up to the challenge, and want to join in with a fun group of Flight Simmers in May, come along for the Ride!

To be honest, I haven't flown online for ages. So I don't know whether I will join now. But I intend to do all the stages. Either in FSX or FS2004. In both cases I will fly the Aeroplane Heaven Prototype. For FS2004 the prototype was in the early Spitfire set.

Great pictures! :)

This event in May is almost exclusively an offline event. Almost everyone flies offline individually and then reports on their flights and associated events. Often with very creative stories. You are very welcome to join in - in the All Sims Adventures forum.

I'll be away from home on holiday an the 26th otherwise I'd certainly be up for this, doing a couple of legs online with other pilots at the very least.
I'd have flown MH434 or my PR.XI or one of the 2 seaters available for a Merlin Spit.
For a Griffon Spit I'd have flown XVIII SM845 or one of Real Air's XIV collection that I have.

Sounds like you have about as many Spitfires in your Hangar as I do. :) Welcome! I have not flown online using the SOH servers, so I will study how to do that this week.

I have just updated the connection info and DL links in the first post here:

Hopefully that will help you to get connected.

When you want to participate, but think you don't have a proper Spitfire to join, here an unofficial and incomplete overview of the Spitfire models which can be used in FS2004

Sadly most Spitfires available for FS2004 are payware. The A2A/Shockwave model was part of the WWII fighters package and was later sold seperately for a very modest price. However the model is not longer available at the A2A simulations site.
I can't say much about the Sky Unlimited Spitfire as I don't have the package. I only received an early evaluation model, which doesn't really reflect the final models. The Spitfire Mk.V package is still available at the PC Aviator site.
The Aeroplane Heaven Spitfire is one of my favourites. Especially the earlier models. Accurate external model, a nice flyer, and a nice VC. As I didn't like the original textures, I made repaint for most of them. The complete package is still available at JustFlight.

The RealAir Spitfire is a stunning Mk.XIV model. Sadly RealAir is gone and the FS2004 model is not longer avialble.
The Plane-Design model is a Mk.XVI bubble top. The model is not simple to fly, mainly due to the rear tank. The model is excellent and there are a few very nice repaints avialable for this model. The model is still available at Sim-Market, however personally I think the price is a bit steep.

The TR.9 Spitfire is part of the package sold by JustFlight. However in 2009 Aeroplane Heaven made an earlier version of this model available as freeware. I can not longer find it anywhere, but perhaps somebody knows whether it is still available somewhere.

There are some genuine FS9 Spitfires, but I'm only aware of a few.

Chris Lampart and Shessi gave us a nice PR.XI photographic reconnaissance model. The package contains two version one with sliptank and the other one without the sliptank. The package is available in the library here at the SOH.
A.F.Scrub did several FS9/FSX models. Ofter reworked older models. Most of them are available here in the library.

Next to the genuine FS9 models there are quite a few CFS2 models which will work in FS9.

Paul Rebuffat Spitfires. After the VB-planes CFS2 model by Graham this must have been my second Spitfire. And I think everybody must have flown this iconic model in the past. Despite its age still a nice model, with a basic VC. Pauls's Spitfire are still available at his site: https://www.myzone59.com/rebuffat/spit9.php
Akemi made a nice Spitfire MkVb model. The external model is very nice and when you change the resolution from the VC in the panel.cfg file from 512x512 into 1024x1024, it has a usable basic VC. The model can be found in the CFS2 legacy section.
Bruno "Brunosk" Escaravage made a series of Spitfire Mk.V models. The external model is fine, but I used a "borrowed"flight model from anothe Mk.V Spitfire to get it flying. The model comes with a familiar 2D panel and a very basic VC. RobH did some very nice repaints for these models.

A.C.Wai released a reworked version of his Mk.XIV bubbletop model. A nice model up to today's standards. And the model is available in our library.
Ken "Merlin66" Harrison tried to make a CFS2 model from every Sptifire version. He released them under the name "YAS" (Yet Another Spitfire). Most are available here in our library. They often had a nice external model, but reasonably simple cockpit. However his later models clearly show his improved skills.

Well That's all folks!!! Hopefuly somebody can add some. I already realise I forgot mention the Aeroplane Heaven Seafires (fs2002/fs2004). So I must have missed more.

Cheers,
Huub

However in 2009 Aeroplane Heaven made an earlier version of this model available as freeware. I can not longer find it anywhere, but perhaps somebody knows whether it is still available somewhere.
I had a look at the wayback Internet archive, and unfortunately it is not still available. This is the download file name that some of you might still have stored on your PC or laptop: AH2_Seater_FS2k4.exe. I only have the FSX version stored (AH2_Seater_FSX.exe) and when I tried to re-run the file it failed.

Thanks for the very comprehensive list of available aircraft! Much appreciated! :)

For all of you using FS2004 who are lucky enough to still have FSNavigator, please check the event thread in All Sims Adventures for updated flight plans. :)
