Simconnect

OK, I'm being thick again. I'm trying to run Tacpack but it keeps telling me it wants simconnect 10. I've scoured the interpersonal, tried everything suggested and ...... nada. I'd really appreciate some pointers on this.

Sadly not. I'd already found the Justflight link, followed the instructions, no luck. The fspassengers looked promising, but it is the wrong version. Sadly it looks like a reinstall is the only option.

per the FSPassengers version readme, it appears a re-install of the relevant application would be necessary after installing the appropriate version of simconnect; accordingly, then perhaps consider re-installing Tacpack after installing simconnect from Just Flight??

Before I take the nuclear option, a complete deinstall and reinstall, would somebody be so kind as to copy the offending .dll from your own system & pass it over to me? It may or may not remedy the issue, but it is my final hope.

Thanks,
I'm using Windows 11, the offending item is simconnect .dll, specifically v10.0.61259.0. My install has an earlier version, which is not recognised by Tacpack.

Sadly the dllme link has the same version, 60905, that is already in the FSX folder. Reading that Microsoft page makes me think I will have to deinstall, and then a very slow & meticulous reinstall. Insert your own rude words here.

Sorry mate. I tried to help, but I haven't flown a legacy sim in years. I'm hoping that one of the gurus will chip in!

OK, just to update this thread. I bit the bullet, deinstalling and reinstalling FSX. Guess what ...... exactly the same problem. I've put in another request with VRS, but I doubt I'll get a reply, so it looks like Tacpack is ex-software*. Ah well, tempus fugit.

Edit - I had a very quick reply from Mike at VRS and, sadly, there is nothing to be done,

* Insert own Monty Python joke here

I bought TacPack fairly recently for FSX and have had no problems with it. Don't really know anything about Simconnect though. Apparently my Simconnect.dll file is v10.0.62615.0 if that helps.

That is a later version than the one I'm struggling with. Interesting.

Have you tried right clicking the icon and setting run as Administrator, or even telling it to run in compatibility mode?

Tried all of that, to no avail. I'm confused as to why Tetsujin had no problems, but I've accepted my lot. Thanks anyway folks.

so just a thought...why not consider re-downloading your TacPack purchase from your VRS Customer Page... possibly updated, and re-install TacPack in your FSX-SP2/A or FSX-SE install; and perhaps the issue will resolve itself

per this thread, it appears simconnect was updated for FSX-SE: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/497361-fsx-se-installing-simconnect/ to v10.0.62615.0

and per this thread, it appears FSX-SP2/A has the simconnect you are struggling with: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/570908-the-bear-fsx-simconnect/ --> v10.0.61259.0 --> not the most up to date, and perhaps no longer compatible with TacPack??

cheers!
