Gary Jones' Single Leonides sound set

I'm actually trying all the members of the Provost Family. The little Percival Provost by Keith Paine is really fun. Keith recommends adding Gary Jones' Single Leonides sound set . Sadly I'm not able to find this set. Anyone have a copy or an ideo where to look?

I've got Gary Jones' Double Leonides, sadly not his single, so I'd be interested in this as well. Probably CBFSIM would be the best place to ask, they managed to retrieve a fair bit from the wreckage of Britsim. If you're not a member already I'm happy to ask for you.

I have no idea what that file attached to post no. 5 is, but it most certainly is not a copy of Gary's original file . . .

Rohan, you may well be correct, hence why I said I was not 100% sure it was the Gary Jones sound. I looked at my installation of the Hunting Percival Provost (PDF attached) and as you see in the PDF it mentions the default installation sound is aliased to the Lockheed Vega, but the Gary Jones single Leonides sound gives, as they put it “a much, much better experience”.

The sound file in my installation (that I zipped and posted) is not the Vega one so I am assuming I downloaded the sound from the now defunct britsim.com site and it was the Gary Jones creation. (We are now going back some years and I can’t remember) but it mates so nicely with the Provost I am assuming it is. Unfortunately there are no clues to the author of the sound file in the WAVs or the sound cfg file only the name Mike Hambly.

Are there any unique identifiers for the Gary Jones sound file?

A meaningful filename, a decent file size, and mostly the presence of a read.me written by Gary - all fairly obvious really . . .

If I was storing files to a museum or public archive standard, yes of course you are correct, but these files are stored for my own personal use and as such are in a format I can easily copy into my FS9 Aircraft file.
With over 2770 aircraft stored and an average of 3 textures each and a text file for each sound, texture and panel that would amount to storing around a further 13,500 txt files.
I’m lucky enough to be able to afford a 4 TB SSD I purchased last week as my two 1TB SSDs are almost full as are my two 1 TB back-up spinny drives.
Basically what I was saying to Lucb is: “Here is the sound file I use with the Hunting Percival Provost, it may be the Gary file (not 100% sure), if you like it use it, if not don’t”.

If you have a copy of Gary’s file you can compare the two, or better still share it.
As for the file size, what do you consider a “decent” size to be?

Publicly posting files without the author's specific permission is a form of piracy and strictly forbidden by our forum rules! If the author gives permission there is no problem with sharing files or even putting them into our library but getting permission from Gary Jones would be a tad difficult seeing as I believe he passed on several years ago!

I have it too,it's in V.2 of Keith's lovely Provost(I did a lot of flight envelope beta testing on it too).

It is certainly the "pukka" Gary Jones sound files for the single Leonides.

I spend a lot of good time between Provost, Jet Provost and various Hunter. Have to find a GA and small business/light transport of the same level and the Quest will be over
(And a good Mirage 5 or III with Belgian color)

Why thankyou Luc. It certainly is a good flyer and does exactly what it says on the tin. For your GA,have a go with the late Dave Molyneux's Austers,actually tested by real Auster pilots,they're a lovely thing.
