David Molyneaux Aircraft list

My contacts with Dave's family were via Dave's email following his passing. Be that as it may, I have every confidence that his family would be delighted to have his work preserved on this site. They were proud of his contribution to our community.

Furthermore, I feel sure that Dave would not have expected his upload permission to limit DR from completing a legacy collection here. That would not have been in Dave's character.

Dave may well have used the name Molyned because he did not expect Americans to pronounce his actual name correctly. It has links back to the Norman conquest, if you had not guessed. Think Oh rather than ed.

Apologies for mixing Dave Garwood and Dave Maltby up. Too many developers of great aircraft!
 
I hear and understand what you are saying about Dave Molyneaux's character, but I feel I must point out that at least several of Dave's models specifically prohibit the upload of that file to ANY servers without his explicit permission..
 
There are two general information files in the archives produced by Dave for FS9.

The first is a definitive list of his Auster models, and this is the latest verion of the file extracted from his models in the library here (but which may not necessarily be the very latest version of the file that he produced).

The second is just a list compiled by Dave of the aircraft prodcued by Auster / Taylorcraft during their long history.

I did some testing on the Fulmar and Sea Bally,they were great,even though I thought they were a waste of a good Merlin engine.
The Trago Sprint is great(it's the only one ever built).
All the Austers are excellent and the old Ox-Box has to be flown correctly.
Don't forget,Dave also did odd bits of scenery(RAF Syerston being one).

He was big mates with Martin Pengelly(T6Flyer),who in turn was pally with the Auster mob at Eggesford in Devon(https://www.facebook.com/eggesfordairfield/?locale=en_GB) and managed to get quite a few of the Austers tested by their owner/pilots.
The two Chrislea's are also based at Eggesford and are also the only ones of their type.

I pestered him quite a few times to do a Seafire FR.47,he said"Get me the handling notes,dimensions and some good 3 views and I'll see what I can do".
Sadly,his number came up,The Grim Reaper intervened and I never got my Dave Moly style Seafire 47.I know it would have been brilliant.

IIRC,when Dave did his version of "Old Warden",Leif(yes,that Leif, the late Dispatch Dragon)asked for a "Comper Swift".
Dave rose to the challenge and Leif had his Comper Swift,so that must be out there in the ether somewhere.

Firstly, Dave has already allowed a significant number of his aircraft to be uploaded by Desert Rat to this website, as well as permitting a number of others to be translated to FSX Native and subsequently loaded here.

Furthermore, I have seen the forum post where Desert Rat asked for and received Dave's explicit permission to upload further files to this site.
 
Just to clarify, I was heavily involved, our FS9 moderator Robin (zswobbie1) actually uploaded them, I organised, added screenies, sorted the Molyned author, etc.
Well, when I think about it, I did upload them, but had to download Robin's uploads to edit them etc. before re-uploading. :ROFLMAO:

I started looking for the aircraft in the libraries, then I remembered that I had done the uploading...
Getting old is not for sissies! :rolleyes:
 
As a quick update, I think Dave produced about 61 aircraft (give or take a mark),and 23 are uploaded here in FS9 (inc 9 also in P3D) and a further 10 modified for P3D by gavinc. So that is over 50% already.

Meantime I have tracked down source files for about 57, and folders for another 3 that need a bit of back-tracking of my tinkering to get to Dave's originals. The most awkward model for me is the fs9 source for the Scion Float - which is here in FSX/P3D.

My earliest file is a 2007 messenger. I don't know how he found time to be so bad at golf - one of his proudest achievements along with astronomy and amateur radio.
 
I received permission from Dave to convert all his models to FSX/P3D and upload them here so I would imagine he would have had no problem with an archive of his works being created here.

I have converted all I could find to FSX/P3D standard but only uploaded 10 or so. I got no reaction or feedback so I didn't bother uploading any of the others.

I'm not at home this week so can't provide a list of the models I have archived but I know the Scion float plane is one of them so I can provide the FS9 source for that at least.

I had the same problem with @Tako_Kichi when we were working on the Navion project. He absolutely refused to let me put a spoiler on it.
 
I’m looking forward to flying Dave’s aircraft sometime soon. Currently getting a new PC setup for FS2004 and hopefully getting back to some form of flying. Has been far too long since I last used FS2004.

My apologies for not thanking you for your efforts at the time.

For anyone using FSX or P3D, I can recommend Gavin's conversions and the tidy packaging which he carried out on them.

Perhaps if management reach a decision on hosting a collection of Dave's work, it would complete the story if any that Gavin has provided for later sims could be included in the grouping.
