"Somewhere Down the Crazy River," by Robbie Robertson; directed by Martin Scorcese. Embedding was disabled on this video by Universal Music Group so I've had to post a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJ3LOu9IK7Y

Boy, was I going through some changes when this song came out. Captures a particular mood that I call "wistful, but horny". I have a love/hate relationship to music video; I think some of them are really creative, but the video era also unfortunately made the visual presentation important out of all proportion to the actual music. Jack Black talks about this at length to his class in The School of Rock.

Daniel Lanois, of whom I'm a great fan, is playing his hotrodded omnichord to make all those angelic washes of sound you hear. He produced this album. That's Tony Levin on bass, but I don't recognize the guitar player. I know the backup singer is one of the Bodeans, but I don't know which. The dancing devotchka is Maria McKee, of whom I'm also a great fan. In a more perfect world, everyone would know her, and go "Britney who?" Mr. Robertson says, Marty Scorcese made him make out with Maria in the video...

I don´t like rap/hiphop, but I like this one:costumes:

I think wierd al's brilliant! consipated is good:costumes:

my dad heard it and thought it was "Queen" at first. I can see the similarities in sound, but no one can top Freddie Mercury.

Well to me there as different as chalk and a mountin goat called paula .... but speaking about queen, this has to be one THE best performances ever done!

**cant get part one to link, can find it easerly enough though :)*

And Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt...an absolute classic. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails was flattered but not enthusiastic about Cash doing the cover. But after hearing it, then seeing the video he said the song now belonged to Cash.

Cheezy when you get to be this old, yeah you do end up with a wide range that you've listened to over the years. The "older" guys on here know what I mean. The only music I don't like is the crap they put out these days, if ya know what I mean. ;)

I even like listening to Rod McKuen. His best I felt were his LPs with the Anita Kerr Singers.
