• We have to do a little server maintenance that will take the forums off line for an about 2-3 hours. Right now we are planning for Sunday night 9:00 PM May 25

The Catalina X is finally released.

Yago9, Understood and appreciated. I'm looking forward to the finished product. Glenn

It looks awesome, Yago! I love the blue tint of the glossy-black, as it makes it look very realistic.

Anyone know if those who purchased the aircraft from SimMarket will be able to get the paint kit(s) as well? There are a couple of PBY's which are close to my heart, which I would love to paint.

I,m still waiting to get an answer from Aerosoft on how the get the paint kit..It says I have to register the product first but I can do it cause it,s not in the registration list..I love their products but not that much all the pain that goes along with the process of getting a paint kit. I,ve waisted hours so far trying to register in order to get it.I may not need it now cause I just finished the second and final paint for this bird.I think I have all the variants I need now.

The Catalina is on the registration list, it just takes a bit of looking.

Hint... it begins with the letter "P". :wiggle:
Here,s the product registration list ,you pick it ..starting with "P"..Take your time..:icon_lol:

I got the same link as Paul K as instructed by Mathijs from Aerosoft. It looks they have two different ways to register a product..and the one pointed to us from the from main page has the incomplet list. Got the other one now ...it took a while ,hope it,s worth it.

Thank you everyone for setting the proper direction! I managed to use my SimMarket e-mail address and product code and I got the paintkit downloading now.

Glad you got it, Yago. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for this great aircraft.

This is a great aircraft and I love flying it. My uncle flew in PBY-5As in WWII. But I have detected a major flaw!!! As an old retired Navy CPO I am upset. The pilots are Army Air Corps!!?? Look at their covers...Army!
Please, someone fix this. I can't do it...don't know how. Help an old sailor get back Navy honor.

A quick question:

Is the Cat installable on more than one computer? I as as this is a big consideration as I travel about half the time and being able to install on both my "mainframe" and laptop is a essential requirement.

Cheers: T.

Although I don't know the spec's of fliger747's laptop I would say it doesnt need to be a monster! Since my Window XP desktop crashed beyond repair, I've decided to hold off buying a replacement until Windows 7 is fully out. In the meantime, however, I'm running FSX on my laptop. I purchased it just before Christmas and even then it would have been considered far from being a gaming machine. The basic spec's are:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 (2GHz) CPU
  • ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
  • 3 GB RAM
  • Vista 32 Bit Home Premium

Now I think you will agree that these are very modest spec's on which to run FSX. However running the Cat in Orbx scenery (at the recommended settings, although with autogen set at normal) I am averaging about 18-20fps. Ok these are not ideal frame rates. However they are far from being a slideshow and considering that the Cat is a newly released complex simulation, running on a laptop, I am more than happy with them.

So to get back to my original point; you do not necessarily need a beefed up laptop to get a happy flying experience with FSX.
