• We have to do a little server maintenance that will take the forums off line for an about 2-3 hours. Right now we are planning for Sunday night 9:00 PM May 25

The Catalina X is finally released.

Yago, forgot to say thanks for the paints. More civilian paints for the Cat would be very much appreciated, if and when the mood takes you.

In any case, thanks a lot !

:ernae:

The New Zealand paint is nearly ready - just waiting the "go" from the owners (and a few detail corrections)

Fire Retardant

If you have Aerosoft's Beaver on your flightsim, you have a Fire Fighting version. The effect will be in your effect's folder in FSX.

Just add this line to the PBY Civ cfg.

[smokesystem]
smoke.0=00.00, 00.00, -18.0, Aerosoft_Firefight

Give it a try, see what you think.

Bruce.

Thanks Bruce,
I have the Aerosoft Beaver and didn't remember there was Fire version.
I suppose that goes with the territory at my age:kilroy:

Hi Chris,

Is the 3D lighting layers disabled on mid- and rear-section? Apart from that, great work :ernae:

Not finished yet - I have too much enabled on the front... (rope shadow layer) rofl...

There's still a load of alignment stuff to be fixed. And detail from the real world owners.

I have added a water ballast system as in the glider, so that the plane actually loses weight during a drop. But so far I found no way to modify where on the plane the water drop effect appears.

Code:
[EFFECTS]
...
WaterBallastDrain=fx_waterbomber

[Water Ballast System]
;/Tank.n = Gallons, Long, Lat, Vert, iValve
Tank.0=500, 0.00, -0.000, -3.70, 1          //Front Fuselage
Tank.1=500, -8.10, -0.000, -3.70, 2          //Rear Fuselage

NumberOfReleaseValves=2
DumpRate=50                           //Gallons per second

That,s great .Is the deafult Fx glider effect ?

Chris , shes looking Great ! , I have a good friend who tried to get on a flight during the last airshow , the closer of Wigram airfield , Christchurch NZ , he took a redundantcy deal , figured with a little time off , he'll go up to Auckland , to the Ardmore were its based and go for a flight from there , hes stopping at myplace in next weekend to get the Virtual feel :wiggle:

No I have downloaded a freeware FS2004 waterbomber from flightsim.com (ea_fired.zip) and instead use the effect file from this package.

Due to the "WaterBallastDrain=fx_waterbomber" line, in the aircraft.cfg effects section, the alternative effect is used, so that the default water ballast drain effect has not to be altered.
