Restored Lysander finally leaves the ground!

I just saw this posted a few days ago as well, and indeed it is great to see the world's number of flying Lysanders now doubled, with the Shuttleworth example having been the only flying example for a number of years now. Thank you for posting a link to the video, Doug! I don't believe I have ever seen a pilot get into a Lizzie before - it is quite the task! On the EAA AirVenture site, it is listed as being one of the many Canadian warbirds and vintage aircraft which will be attending the event, and I really hope it makes it there as it will be my best chance at seeing it.

From what I have read, it will continue to fly in its target-tug markings until the end of the air show season, and then will likely see a change of paint for next year's shows. The "Sabena Oldtimers" Lysander will be the next to become airworthy once everything is finished with its restoration, testing, and certification.

Yes it is very good to this bird flying. The museum has done a great job of rebounding from what could have been a disaster back in 1993.
Thanks for sharing this.

I saw this ol' girl a few years back (3 to be exact) when I was at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, she was only in display shape then but she still looked the same.

Great to see her finally take to the sky's.:jump::jump::jump:
I wonder how there Bristol Bolingbroke Restoration is coming along.:kilroy:

I would've preferred camo paint over the stripes, but the important thing is that the old bird is flying. Outstanding restoration. :)
