Windows 7 Out

Oh yea....

It made you use G-mail...I think it was g-mail( I have enough accounts already for now)

No more outlook express.....

The default email in W7 is Windows Live Mail, it sucked my old Outlook Express folder setup right in without any problems.

After using it as long as I have now, I really don't see anything negativily different than Outlook Express. In fact it actually looks to me pretty much like a very fancy version of Outlook Express. I really like it. :)

A couple of W7 heads-up:
-Current users of W7 RC will be able to switch over to the W7 RTM during the last half of August.

-About a week or so ago my beta Norton Internet Security 2009-7 for W7 was upgraded to the newer beta Norton NIS 2010.

Ni kiddin...Thats right..it was Windows Live...I had no clue that it would run OE from there...

Good to know...thanks for the tip FAC257....:applause:

That 4870 will rock FSX..

I have built several with 4890's and they rock too..

I run on two computers each a 3850's and they rock....

Blurries IMO are not from a video card..just needs to set things up better...I have no blurries with any 3850 or 4890 cards...

Thanks Bill and Harleyman, I will upgrade, no matter:bump:

Hey Dag..

Here is my FSX and ATI set up for FSX....

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=16294

ATI settings copied to the last detail and in FSX, water up a notch and limited to 30 FPS, apart from that, the same as yours Harley. I must say a big thank you, the Dagger is screaming now :icon29::icon29::icon29::icon29:

I run FSX Acc (was in beta there) and your settings work very good in this sim as well. To be quite honest, I never actually got to explore FSX much, I do textures mostly, with quick viewing in locked spot. I was put off by the performance my PC gave me and never bothered to tweak much.
This made my day Harleyman, thanks again :icon_lol::icon_lol:

Thanks

How much Ram does 7 use and can it be cut down to XP levels?

It will run with 2gb, but prefers 4gb and loves 6gb. 8gb is nice too but pointless unless you're doing a lot of HD video editing etc (which I happen to do). With RAM being as cheap as it is these days there's little reason not to slap 6gb in there and call it done.

That wasn't what I wanted to know. I wanted to hear approximate numbers. Like: Windows XP on my PC uses 380 Mbytes of Ram, Vista used almost thrice that amount (1 Gb).

Now how much does 7 use?

Thanks anyways.

Here's an idea. Download it and find out for yourself. Glad I could be of no ****ing help whatsoever.

Not sure if this is what your looking for but here's a couple of pics using the default W7 Resource Meter.

The first pic is W7 idling. This is my default start-up configuration. In the background I do have Norton's NIS 2010 and a few of other system aps that run at start-up.

The second pic is on the same system start-up, but with FSX running. I put the default Cessna 172, on the runway in the default FSX start-up flight. UTX is also running.

So glad that its all working well for you Dag....YEA.........Thats always a plus...:applause:

Is there an RC copy of Win7 available for dload anywhere/anymore? The one that is good until 2010 I mean. Last I heard or read somewhere months ago is that MS pulled it from the net but I'm not sure that is correct.

Probably since Win7 is shipping now that's the case for sure now huh?

That's a RC though, the RTM is about if you do the due diligence thing.

That looks a lot like my Win7 numbers as well. Right now my system is running at about 1.3GB of RAM usage with nothing but Firefox running as a program. It seems to hover around 1-1.5GB normally. 'Course, when you've got 6GB of addressable memory, that's not much of a hit.

Hadn't been introduced to that nifty lil' utility so I had to try it out. . . .the pics would not load (just like the avatar, it just tells me that the jpg is an invalid file). My system has 8gig of memory (64bit Win7). The graph showed that while idle "In Use" showed 1130MB and the free physical memory was 5284MB, after loading FSX and loading the Pilatus PC-12 on the rwy it went to 2095 "In Use" and Free was 3874MB.

You are, of course, speaking hypothetically, since no one on this forum would pirate a copy of Windows, any more than he would pirate a copy of Lionheart's Kodiak or Spotlope's Tongass. At this point, I believe it's just RC that's obtainable legally.

Using a leaked RTM is different from using a release candidate how exactly? Cracking the RTM (or any version) such that you can use it indefinitely without paying for it, that's something else entirely and no I don't condone or encourage that at all.

I also don't pass judgment when I haven't got a clue what I'm talking about. It makes a person look foolish.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding here, but you don't see any difference between running a "leaked" RTM and using an RC? Well. . . .if it's "Leaked", then it's been acquired illegally. . .if I run the RC (which I am), that is released by Microsoft to the public for Beta Testing. Also, the only way the leaked RTM was usable was because it was cracked by one of the OEM's. . . .so YES, there is a very big difference between the two.
