Aero L-39 Albatros

Ok. I'm pretty sure it's on "Pip" but I'll ask to make sure. They could have added it to replace the gun cam. I do know it's on his Mig-21..... I asked him about it.

Yago, I think I was right before. You are fibre-optically connected to your computer. :) Amazing.

Brett, yes the start procedure is right out of the book, replicated it step by step, including the 22 second Saphir spool time and auto-shutdown. It will also shut off after 10 mins just like the real thing if you don't get successful engine start.

The only niggle comes in air starts. FSX doesn't really model jet engine windmilling properly. With enough speed it will keep spinning in reality well above 22% N1, but in the sim it just dies out quick. Tried and tried to replicate it, but no dice. Props in FSX do it nicely, but not jets I think.

Sorry, I just meant that whilst it is a sim, it is the closest thing to actually sitting in a cockpit that I have used! It engages you with crafted details that make you feel like you are really flying!
 
Thank you very much Josquin. I always approve of shots over Switzerland. I'd say about 95% of my FSX hours are spent in those Alps. I never tire of them. Lovely. :)

Dexdoggy, thank you. Yes she is a little slower than the average jet for sure, and Aero's published performance figures are, to put it nicely, wishful thinking. When I was first working on the flight model I was talking to an L-39 pilot about the top speed and altitude figures being seemingly unattainable given the thrust and drag properties. I asked him if it was really possible for an L-39 to get to its service ceiling of 37000 feet...

His reply: "Sure it can, if you tow it up there with a Mig-29."

:)

(Pipsqueak however, that's a different story.)
