Aero L-39 Albatros

I wonder if there's a mod for L-39s that adds nosewheel steering. I'd be all over it if I bought one.

In all of the L-39 model folders, there is an folder called "Nose Wheel Steering Config". Use the included aircraft.cfg in there to replace the existing cfg in the model of your choise, or all of the L-39 variations, to have nose wheel steering.

Be aware, that if you have added additional textures, that these are be lost, best way is only to replace the data under the last [flightsim.] entry, so you have all your textures in place.

Grtz,

Lenny

Hehe, I think he was referring to buying a real one Lenny. :) I'd love to if I could ever afford one, steering or not, they're a blast to fly. My 60 minutes at the controls was the most fun I've ever had, period.

Oeps, sorry misreading...... (good start from me :pop4:)

What a great product :applause: and have been enjoying it and the fine repaint everonr has been sharing Thank you Lotus and repaints

but I purchased same day as released so I got a couple questions

So how do you know if you have the latest greatest installer
old version is 202 mb?
new version is 165 mb?

and do you need to just delete the old version or complete uninstall the old version
do you need to still remove flares from effects...etc or does the new version do that

Sorry if I sound confused but I am:isadizzy:in more ways then just here:kilroy:

Thanks for the help

Hey Doublecool, sorry for the confusion. The latest installer contains all the 1.01 fixes to stop CTDs in multiplayer and some minor refinements. The smaller installer size comes from a lot of texture and sound file optimizations, but there's no difference in quality, there was just a bit of waste and file duplication in the original installer that didn't need to be there. If you want to get the latest, just back up your repaints and the aircraft.cfg entries for them, and then uninstall the L-39, re-download from the vendor you purchased it from, and reinstall. Then copy just your repaint entries back into the aircraft.cfg files and all should be well. Uninstalling your L-39 will not remove your repaint files, but it is important to copy just the aircraft.cfg repaint entries back in, not replace the aircraft.cfg files themselves. Many changes were done to them in this update.

Hope that helps.

It doesn't stop me from getting in and out of small airports though. It's fun practicing takeoffs and landings at SABA with it...:jump:

Really? I'm unable to operate from Plum Island so far. I just can't get over that camper. :kilroy: Desperate pull, stall horns, crash ...

SABA you can takeoff off the cliff though... I actually descend from the runway until about 70 feet before pulling up. Sort of what they did off aircraft carriers before catapults were around.

Just finishing this paint

L-39C "Blue 14"

Georgia Air Force, Tbilisi Air Base, 2005

Georgia Air Force have 6 x L-39C Albatross and 12 L-29C Dolphins

During the August 2008 crisis with Russia over Georgia's two breakaway regions, South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Georgian aircraft were initially active, but were soon grounded by Russian airstrikes. The Russians maintained
near complete air superiority during the crisis, claiming at least 3 Su-25 and 2 L-29 destroyed.

During these airstrikes, the small L-39 fleet have been hangared on "Soviet Era Build" Hardened Shelters for obvious reasons.

As L-29's are old and coud be put "out of service" from 2 to 4 additionnal L-39's could be eventually acquired from Ukraine Air Force surplus stocks.

@gajit: Very nice from you to take over that GDR-paint. It looks great. Could you make it use a single seater model though? Those L-39 where V-versions used for towing drones and they had no back seat. The towing stuff was put in that place. With the single seater version there would be at least no one seating in the back - given that we "only" fly the C-version. :jump:

Hi - no problem - I will arrange for the option of both single and 2 seat.

That would be nice indeed. Haven't seen the camo-GDR yet but it has the looks for sure.
