What makes a person snap like this>> 12 killed, 31 wounded

[QUOTE=hey_moe : "Something like this makes me sick to my stomach"
Same here Mike . This type of thing is so senseless . Friendly fire is devastating enough but this type of loss of life is so puzzling as to what would motivate a person to purposely commit such a horrifing act against fellow soldiers and innocent civilians is beyond comprehension . If he survives maybe we will find out what possibly could have been his motive before he gets his final justice . Your right , it just gives me a sickening feeling too . God Bless those that have lost family and friends .

IMHO. This is an act of cowardness.

Reports are saying he was there for deployment. His first. He apparently for whatever reasons, didn't want to go. So rather than die alone as protest, (i.e. commits suicide alone,) he decided he has to prove a point by taking others with him when he dies.

Afraid to serve, afraid to die alone.

The most horrific thing about this is what I heard this morning. Hood is also the first receiving station for those coming back home from deployment. So some of this cowards vitcims may very well be men/women that were just returning home from doing their time at the front, and not just men/women who were scheduled to deploy.

:icon34:

I also read a report about the FBI investigating some postings that "may" have come from him praising suicide bombers. Scary stuff coming from within.

the US media is already jumping on the race band wagon. Man, gotta love american news :p

see the front page of Yahoo? Shows a blurry image of the shooter in a middle-eastern outfit....they just can't hold back can they? man...i cant stand the media...anything for ratings...

I think you reading too much in to what you see:

"This photo from the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress Web Site shows Nidal Malik Hasan."

The American Islam community has to be pulling their hair out. This will only further the fear of Islam in America. I can hear many a voice in many a bar, office, or home saying, "See I told you so. You can never trust those Muslims." It is a tragady that will ripple outward an affect almost every facet of America.

My prayers are for the innocent victims, their families, and all of the active members and veterans of our Armed Forces in this senseless attack. :USA-flag:

The only good out of it Moe is that he was one of the 13 killed.

The fault lies with our freedom. We know these kooks exist, but by our laws, we cannot convict or incarcerate them until they have committed some abominable crime. If we desire a safe police state, we could build concentration camps and crematoriums for the undesirables in our society, but I think all of us know where that led to the last time. :bump:

Caz

Cazzie,

I thought he was alive and unconscious.

"The suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was on a ventilator and unconscious in a hospital after being shot four times during the shootings at the Army's sprawling Fort Hood, post officials said."

i highly doubt that. when i think back to all the atrocities committed in recent history (since the mid 70's with the iranian capture of e.d.s. employees. that's as far as my memory goes back.) in the name of allah, i can't recall a single instance where the muslim community stepped up in a conspicuous manner and denounced the acts, or extremeist beliefs themselves. what i do remember, quite clearly, is how they danced in the streets in seattle, detroit, new jersey, and dc.
perversely, people who punished them as the law would not, were charged with hate crimes. think i'm wrong? have a look at the organizations that are attempting to draw attention to the opression of women through sharia law.
see who is running them, and what demographic makes up the bulk of their staff.

The 'Media' are well into their usual feeding frenzy.
I suggest everybody take a moment and settle down, no doubt the true facts will surface soon enough.
This thread is under surveillance people.

The US had uncovered such a plot like this at another base before it happened. This time, they didnt catch it in time.

The man was giving away all his things before he left. He knew what he was doing. This was his one way trip to martyrdom to collect his 50 virgins in 'h-e-double-toothpicks'.

The muslum extremists have been plotting an attack like this for perhaps 2 years now, perhaps more, hitting a military base directly on American soil. Its just now happened.

The scary part for the bad guy is he didnt die. heh...

Feng, I wouldnt blame us for this. I would blame the guy holding the gun.

10 years ago, we would have never thought that the middle east would become a world melting pot of terror and war and a focus point that would lead to economic breakdown. All born from hatred. 'murder your neighbor'..

I wish we found a fuel source that didnt need oil and was everywhere, like water.. Then we could walk away from those countries totally.

He is in critical condition on a ventilator . Hopefully this sick , worthless , cowardly , ******* will last long enough and recover enough to get executed(Preferably in public, which I know we as a civilized society do not do) . For all the legal rights people out there , before you jump down my throat , he(If he survives) will of coarse be given a fair Court Marshal in front of his peirs(Who he choose to murder and seriously injure).:angryfir:

When are we going to wake up to whats really going on in this world?

Mudmarine,

I couldn't agree more. However, I fear that the religious backlash against Islam from this incident will be similar to previous circumstances which I will not name, and because of it the media may begin a new age of Neo-McCarthyism where we begin to see enemies in people who just happen to look like those whom we are engaging overseas. Hopefully they will restrain themselves and understand this is likely an isolated case.

Yes, but it's not really based like as we commonly understand religion here in the west. You know, we put our trust in God to guide us. We still have free will and must choose to do the right thing. Conscience.

Muslim is a constitution, as well. It's a system of fundamental principles and customs by which your way of life is governed. It's law. The word Muslim literally means, "one who submits (to God)". The only one God is Allah, there is no other. You must submit and obey.

I think it's important we in the west understand that distinction. :kilroy:

Right on, Dain Ains. It's also important to understand that Islam is largely void of a hierarchical leadership structure. What I mean is unlike Catholicism, which is headed by the Pope, Islam lacks such a central authority aside form the Quranical text.

So the notion of the Islamic "community" coming out and denouncing this renegade from their faith is something of a misnomer. In addition, as you pointed out, the separation of church and state simply doesn't exist because the Qur'an largely dictates conduct and law.

Update..I think they seized this guy's computer.
