PAD Releases C-130J

im just downloading...but i noticed that they have the USCG C130J as nose ID number 2005,,,this is the aircraft that was based in sacramento california and was lost off the southern california coast a few weeks ago with all hands
 
Bob of PAD kindly invited me to participate in this project by doing the Blue Angels 'Fat Albert' repaint.
This was an offer I couldn't resist... :icon_lol:

I didn't care that the real Fat Albert is a "T" model, hence this repaint on the "J" is fictional. I hope you all don't mind too!

Will have to give this one a try. I'm not a big Turbo Prop fan, but the C-130 is one of the few eggbeaters that I do like. I have the freeware Alphasim Hercs installed and fly them a couple times a week (especially the H model with the 179th Air Lift Wing skin since it is based just 3 short miles from my house). Knowing the quality of the planes that PAD puts out, I think I may have to spend some time flying this one around.

Just out the flying raw tests of this new PAD model.
I had to modify (for my FS2004 install!!) a parameter on the front wheels
Indeed .. when braking .. the nozewheels were bouncing and at end .. the aircraft noze burried in ground and plane crashed.

Note:
FS2004 Aircraft realism settings ON and full.

So I modified the static compression parameter for the nozewheels (too low) and no more problems there...

Modified contact points (aircraft.cfg)

point.0 = 1, 36.999, 0, -16.325, 9000, 0, 1.5, 90, 0.2, 3.5, 0.9, 4, 4, 0, 400, 400

So you can try it if you have same prob.
 
This plane is nice! A lot more nimble than the Alphasim Hercs. The sound pack that comes with the plane is a bit high pitched for me...I have no idea what the J model sounds like, but I hear the H model nearly everyday as I live less than 3 miles from KMFD, home of the 179th Air Lift Wing and their C-130Hs....they fly LOW LOW LOW over my house about 3 times a week. Sometimes one at a time, sometimes in a two plane flight, sometimes four of them in close formation...well close for a huge transport plane at any rate. I have a C-130 sound pack that I am tweaking on to give it the deep and loud sound of the Hercs that cause my dogs to bark many times a week.

I only took the J model up for a short flight...kind of aggravating trying to test out a new plane when your frame rates are in the single digits...no idea why my frame rates took a drastic hit this last couple days.

OK, I got one beef with this. I've got some bleepin alarm going off in the cockpit. It's going off right from the start. Of course I've got it starting with the engines already running. Don't know what it is or how to turn it off.
Anybody know what this is and how to turn off?

It's the classic Herc pilot expressing his disbelief as to how much livelier this new model really is!! :jump:

Had you already test this C130 ?
It's a good sound pack in (or at least a good base for make your magic ) :)
And BTW this plane is great.

Just this correction in the contact points:

for correct the nozewheels sinking in ground when braking :)

Thanks, and you're right about "no big thing". That was just the lazy bugger in me. I keep forgetting just how simple the PAD textures are and yet they still have lots of eye appeal, especially with their most recent releases. Their latest DHC6-400 Twin Otter looks like a real airplane in some screen shots. I can say this with certainty because I just got new glasses within the past year.
