Its a battle of the winds here today.

Some of the best winds I have had through out the whole race.

Unless I get some serious head winds (which could still happen) I think you can throw out my estimate. :icon_lol:
 
I hit the Headwind wall at the New South Wales / Victoria state border so you may have good luck with the winds :)

Well I started out the leg with 100 nm of 13kts of tail wind.

Then I had 30 kts of cross wind...

Which became 30 kts of tail wind...

Which flipped to 30 kts of head wind giving me 4.3 seconds of over speed.

NICE

Then I got more tail winds...

Lots of Tail Winds for so long I am going to Declare Shenanigans on the Duenna.

After arriving almost an Hour early it only shows a net of 5.9 kts of tail wind.

No freaking way. :icon_lol:

Of course the arrival could not have been any more intense.

0.00 vis at the YMEN

Screen shots show the weather and the funky affect no visibility has on textures.

Try landing a plane when you are not sure where your plane is or where the runway is.

The only positive side is I could see the runway from a couple of miles off. It only got hairy on landing.

I thought I was going to stall the Puss Moth if I did not touch down soon.

Waddayamean "j/k"??? Jimmy Melrose did it (of course the other way round).

In fact, I think everyone should fly their birds back home.. except the Staggerwing which has been sold to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.. or was the the SPCA ..hmmmmm. Whatever.. they are mailing the cheque to Mexico for me.

This is most excellent news and how fortuitous for Milton! I'm sure he was wondering how he was going to make the 100+ hour journey back in the Melrose Moth. But now that you're available Sir Rob... what's that Australian saying you can tell Milton? Ah! "No Worries Mate!" :icon_lol:
 
got this in late, Dave, but that was a hckuva job, flying the moth solo. This race has been a pure pleasure to follow and an inspirition for me to ...try.. to learn to fly well enough to be a team member in some poor unsuspecting race of the future.
