and i'm glad i'm not him...:)..
But i am curious..
i've been in this community now for a little while, and try as i might, i can never get the hang of understanding what it is people might want.. heck, I just read one post by one gentleman wanting a P-40E and i just spent over 2000 hours making the fde for one not too long ago.. :;sighs:;, But i recon his desires are not fully based around what i do ( crunch numbers ), and my own curiosity is no where near as detailed.. but what I'm wondering about is how much people would like one of three planes. the plane ( whichever one ) would be excruciatingly detailed, have an fde that was as absolutely exact and accurate as is possible in fsx, and be an accurate representation of the aircraft. The three planes i'm curiopus about are:
the P-61 Black Widow
The TBM Avenger
the hawker Sea fury.

If you were to pick onr of those three, which would it be??

Thanks
Pam

I think the Americans might out-vote the Europeans on this one! Still and all, if I had to pick one it would be the Sea Fury.

I would vote for the Black Widow as it's such a mean looking beast and I just like WWII twins. Build one such plastic kit many many moons ago.

Seeing how my time in the Navy was spent when TBF/TBMs were plentiful. I should vote for the Avenger.
But then again, the Army Air Force should be recognised and a an underappreciated aircraft, like the Helldiver, was the P-61 Black Widow and all it's variants.
But for sheer beauty and elegance and a plane I would fly all by myself , I guess the British Sea Fury would get my vote.

Gasp! A P-61, in FSX, in excrutiating detail? -faint-Huh, what, where...Oh, yes sorry p-61, got a little light headed there. I've wanted one since the first day I installed the sim. Like Mathias said she's such a mean looking beast. We have nothing like her right now.

Though I like the Avenger there is enough simullarities to the Dauntless that the immenant Vertigo Dauntless would lessen my interest in aquiring the Avenger. Personally the Sea Fury just doesn't get my juices flowing but I'm probably in the minority here on that one.

The P-61 would get my money without a doubt and the other two could possibly get my wallet out with some good WIP threads to generate my interest. The P-47 Razorback never grabbed me before but since the A2A Jug came out it has become one of my favourite warbirds. Quality work is hard to resist.

P61 P61 P61 P61 P61 P61 P61 P61 P61 Plllllleeeeeaaaaaassssssssssse!

P-61 allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way!
and excruciatingly detailed too? Yes please!

I believe there are already two Sea fury's in production, one highly detailed if I remember right and I think Tim plans on doing the Black Widow at some point, but he also has a very looooooooong list, lol.

Personally, I'd love to see the Black Widow done. Also, just to ease your mind about what people really want. A lot of us have either flown aircraft, or flown in an aircraft and if you combine those two, it still doesn't make any of us experts in all aircraft. There are a select few in here who have serious cockpit time in either Commercial or Military aircraft or both and also a very few who fly GA aircraft on a regular basis. . .the rest of us. . .clueless really. Very few of us can tell you exactly what it "feels" like to fly a particular aircraft, even though I hear that reasoning thrown around constantly when people are test flying new aircraft they just downloaded or purchased. In 90% of the cases, they've never even seen that airplane before let alone actually flown it (different from flying "in" it by the way). So when someone says, "it just doesn't feel right" (I first consider who said it) and then in about 98% of the cases just laugh my butt off because they really don't have any idea what it feels like, they're simply basing it on some preconceived notion they have of what they "think" it should probably feel like, lol..

Experts will abound when a new addon hits the rwy, but there are just a handful of folks I would consider experienced enough that I would actually listen to their critiques and consider it worth remembering. When it comes to FDE's, the best you can do is to do your best with the available information you have and the limits that FSX places on you. Seek out the really experienced designers in here for assistance and be satisfied in the end that you've created something that is as real as it get's.

I go along with Jan on this one. I saw the Widow at the National Air and Space Museum at Dulles last August. Beautiful!!!!

Definitely the P-61 for me. I believe I had a freeware one for FS 2000 or 2004, can't remember which, but it was a joy to just see static on the flight line. Not to mention fly.

P-61 would be great!

Is there still one on tap from MAAM, or was it going to be for FS9?

Sea Fury would be very nice, but I could also live with a P61, can't say an Avenger does anything for me though.

Ian.
