FLOLS and FLCP for scenery

Hi!
As my Etendard project comes into first flying tests phase, I re-open my FLOLS trailer case folder.
The issue of my trailer is that it needs to be used as AI boat object (with AICarrier tool) and can't be placed into an airport as a scenery object.

Firstly, I put on the trailer my Clemenceau FLOLS system which doesn't need acceleration feature to work (meatball only, but no waveoff lights) and so it can be compiled into a .bgl file

Secondly, I realized that the arresting wires work even when compiled into a .bgl file!

So I create quick objects (lines, LSO, etc...) to built different kind of arresting zones:
- 1 wire for each ends of runways (it works in both ways)
- 4 wires for FLCP "carrier-like" (in the real life no wire are used for FLCP, except at NAS Lakehurst I guess?)

and a compound one : 3 wires (FLCP) and 1wire (runway arresting gear)

All these models can be compiled as bgl and work :icon_lol:
I'll release all these objects as a navy scenery toolbox, but I have to test it a little more and package it. If anyone is interested in helping me, please PM me.

Regards,
Sylvain

PS: I join some screen shots, I made also a grey version for US Navy scenery

I would love to try this out. It would be perfect for my NOLF Choctaw scenery I am working on. Is there a way to make the cables not work so you can do bolters and touch and go's?

You could try my technique. works every time.

Miss em!

I am just kidding. I have only done a few carrier landings from the Acell missions. So, I may not know what I am talking about. However, if you leave the tailhook up, won't that cause you to miss the wires?

Hi!
You're right Jmig. If the tailhook is up, you'll do a touch and go exaclty as real pilots do in the real life during carrier qualifcations.

I added wires for FLCP just for the fun, because I like earing the LSO telling me wich wire I caught... :bump:

Would it be able to work in multi-player where everybody could use it or would you have to spawn it so only you can see it?

Hi Shylock,
Good question, but I didn't test it in MP yet.
The FLOLS is passive (no specific code in) so it'd work in MP as it works in single player.
The wires are using acceleration feature, so if acceleration trapping works in MP it will work too. I don't know if it's true... did you try some MP carrier missions?

I have no experience of carrier ops in multiplayer flight, I've just read some posts (like recently X_Eidos2 feedbacks). I would be very interested in having feedbacks on what it is possible to do in MP : wires, catupults, moving carrier, etc... Why not a specific "Clemenceau" MP release ?

Well when you first did the trailer we had talked about it being able to work as a scenery item so this way it could be inserted into Naval bases. I would be interested in figuring this out because just think of the fields Jim can put them in.

For our little sim group I made a basic El Centro scenery with the help of Jim Dhaenens and John Stinstrom I was able to put together a not to shabby KNJK. One thing that was missing was the FLOLS. When I was tinkering around with it last year I found you can make a BGL to go into scenery but with no lights. Great job with this one I cant wait to give it a go at getting that OK, 3.
