Super Cub: Now Available

Just wanted to say, since I dont switch views (I only fly in the VC) - I think the engine sound
has been replicated fantastically. It was one of the first things I noticed-how great the engine sound is, especially on good speakers.

I personally dont care for the airframe stress sound, as it doesnt seem to actuate smoothly, nor the wind from opening the window-but that could be eventually updated....

Again, If your not a veiw switcher (I replicate being in the real view-VC) I personally think the engine sounds are spectacular- I absolutely luv these cubs! Thanks Mike!

Aloha,
Sean

The sounds are based on the default C172 (which may or may not be based on the real O-360 engine but I doubt it) and don't work properly if you cycle through the views to admire the modelling. Seems a shame never to look at it from the outside :engel016:

Hi there. Yes, you're up to date. And only some sounds, such as switches, primer pump, knobs and wind sounds when the doors and window are open, are embedded through the Flight Replicas sound gauge. The rest, such as engine sound, are generated through the sound.cfg.

Just a word of warning, a couple of the non-engine sounds in the sound.cfg are actually linked to a gauge, and you may have problems with the airplane if you switch the sound file for another. This is less a problem in the IFR Amphib.

The best way to change sounds is to go through the Super Cub sound.cfg and change the .wav names there, and then put the new .wav's into the sound folder.

Mike

Thanks Mike I'll take a look at editing the cfg rather than replacing it although I haven't noticed any problems so far.

The RealAir Scout uses a 180hp IO-360 and I'm thinking the sound should be pretty accurate?

Wohoo! 20 posts! :icon_lol:
Just a couple shots of the Swiss one for starters.

Strange, I don't have the outside view problem at all.
FYI, the present Super Cub/C 172 engine sounds are much more realistic for the Super Cub than the Realair Scout sounds...it's not only the engine but the prop as well.

The super cub uses carburetor, not injection. Lycoming uses IO designator for injected version versus "O" as in O-360.
Just cause the engine is in one aircraft does not mean it will sound the same in others. Mufflers type, cowlings, etc. change the way the thing sounds.
To my ears, the A2A cub sounds are the closest.

Im working on a Brit one next - trying to get a photo real wheel to work - so hard to centre - work in progress..

Me either, I went through several changes inside to out and the sound was what I expected. Hitting Q or turning sound off in control panel makes no difference, the sound stays the same and it sounds okay to me on my 5.1 setup using MOBO sound.

Very nice opening and closing the window with the wind noise, immersive.

The only addon plane (of too many) I know definitely has an issue with sound on my rig when changing views is the A2A P-40 that needs the sound on/off or throttle up/down business when changing views.

Hardware specific compatibity issue perhaps.

Hi - I have just updated my repaint of G-TUGG as it had a few errors. Sorry to the 3 people who have downloaded. Please download again. :redf:

Now done Download here....

Hi John,

Just looking at your superb repaints, and am just curious what alpha you are using? There are specific ones for the SC_1 and SC_2 textures, but it looks as if you are using just white - or is that just my monitor? The aircraft should, I think, be more shiny?

I've put the alphas on the download page at the website, in case anyone wants them: they're at the bottom of the page.

http://www.flight-replicas.com/Downloads.htm

They can also be extracted from the .dds textures, if anyone wants to go that route.

Mike

Always safest bet to add alphas to repaint templates, that way they get automatically included with every paint. I always do it, because alphas are usually the thing I otherwise forget:salute::salute:

Beautiful!!! I remeber, when I was young, similar model in Italian Army, yellow or olive green.... :)
Now I fly whit default Cub in FSX and I think that is very lovely

Just upload my last repaint. It is for the Extreme2-model which is more and more my personal favorite - if it is possible to have one by all this lovely models. Mike, your paintkits are wonderfull and it is fun to "play" with them.

Greetings :wavey: Dirk
