F-22 Infighting

Smoothie,

That was very kind of you -- thank you. :ernae:

I don't think the USAF will ever go to warrant officers. General Swartz is totally against the idea and it was an answer I got to hear in person when he came to my now old squadron.
Cheers,

Ken

Which is precisely why I've been "grooming" our 2Lts for when they become 4-Star generals....;) :d

On a more serious note,
There are some in my AFSC (cyber) that believe that warrants would solve some the challenges that we're experiencing now in developing a future force...

(And I personally think FEs would also make an excellent warrant candidate too..) :mixedsmi:

That's starting to change. As I was training the young lieutenants
The young officers we got were all highly motivated and eager to perform well. To tell the truth, I was very impressed by them. Their OPR's are going to look very good relative their peers out of UPT.

Cheers,

Ken

I'd debate that this change of attitude is because Gen Schwartz basically told them to "shut up and color" by saying a % of UPT graduates WILL be assigned to UAVs as their 1st duty assignment...

It worked to put the decision over the top! :icon_lol:

However, the critical change in happening now. To be honest it's been happening. RPA's are no longer a temporary assignment. Considering that AFSOC's Squadron of the Year three straight years was it's first RPA unit, the stigma is gone. When the Air Force Association awarded its Unit of Merit award to the same unit -- well that signified that even Big Blue saw the future and accepted it.

Cheers,

Ken

Ah yes...
The "battle" between ACC & AFSOC...:monkies:

Anyways, I'd say that the more the USAF specializes, the more the issue of warrants will rear its' head again since arguably, the whole concept of a warrant is a specialist in knowledge & capabilities...:mixedsmi:

Now as far as the O-4 lobotomy is concerned, it may be implanted at O-4 but it doesn't take effect until O-6 :d...
