I have several aircraft with multiple exit animations but I can't get SHIFT+E+2 and so on to work. I checked Control Assignments list but all it offers is SHIFT+E. How do I get additional exits to work, anyone?

Not shift+E+2, its shift+E then 2. Let the shift+E up first then hit 2.
What Terry said...and you need to be pretty quick about it or FS sees it as a seperate command.
If all else fails, and it does on some systems, multi-key assignments can be made in the payware version of FSUIPC and/or a handful of gauges that are available for free in the various flightsim libraries.

There are also cases where a gauge that constantly runs in some sort of loop will prevent additional exits to work. Ken Mitchell's Clipper panel is one example. The guages that linked the cowl flaps to invisible spoilers to simulate drag also prevented Exit #2 from working.
