B-17 Accusim Released!!!

Needless to say i'm enjoying the heck outa this!! any chance of getting the co pilot/engy guy in the 337 to manage the same systems? :)

However ... is anyone else getting a frame rate hit in the vc when on the ground?? with accusim on i get about a 10fps hit, with it off i get 30fps, yet when i'm in spot plane view or when i'm off the ground its fine :isadizzy:

I´m getting this too Stiz. The only way o get rid of the fps loss is reseting the flight. I´m getting 40FPS solid from this accusim b17. As soon as i open any accusim menu, it goes to 6-8 fps ....

In A2A forum there are some people saying about this too. Let´s hope someone can help us!

See you on the Bomb Missions -

Sweeeeet !! :ernae:

It would be of great help to those of us on the fence if you guys would post your pc specs (duo 2 or quad,,video card or cards, ram, ect) and frame rates in vc on ground at a medium sized airport.
Thanks,

well mine is:-

win xp
E8600 3.33
4GB ram
GF9800GT 512mb

and the only hit i get is the one mentioned above which seems to be accusim releated, however once i'm in the air i dont get any frame rate hit at all when compared to the defult maule (30fps locked in case your wondering) :)

Win 7
Intel Q9550 at 4.2Ghz
Gigabyte X48 DQ6 motherboard
MSI FROZEN OC 260GTX 448bit 896MB VRAM
4GB Corsair Dominator RAM PC29600

All locked at 35fps solid inside and outside the cockpit in all the airports in FTX's new North America addon-lowest 34.8 large and medium airports. All English airports are FSX default 35 solid. I did initially get a 16fps in the cockpit when opening pop-ups but cycled the "A" key and it went back to normal. It has not occurred again- no accounting for why just glad it all works.

I have my FPS locked at 20 and have no issues with it on the ground or when opening Accu-sim menu's. That was at Fort Worth, Texas.. I imagine it might be different in higher hit FPS areas. To me it runs the same as the other 3 birds so far though.

Jankees, please make sure to tell us where you will be uploading all of your B-17 paints. I don't want to miss any!

Loving this girl!!

Only slightly damaged my landing gear so far, mainly because I have a very experienced co-pilot. :salute:

Hi,

I took a bit of time to work this out and I thought maybe others might enjoy this. I've studied the real life Flying Fortress checklist and decided to try something out. I took off from RAF Thorpe Abbotts and levelled off at 9000ft over Great Yarmouth. Turned the autopilot on and went through the feathering and unfeathering procedures.....IT WORKS PERFECTLY!! How about that!

Copy and print out the checklist and try them for yourself.

FEATHERING

1. Throttle back engine to be feathered
2. Press feather button
3. Mixture “CUTOFF”
4. Fuel Boost “OFF”
5. Propellor “LOW RPM”
6. Magneto “OFF”
7. Generator “OFF”
8. Fuel shut off valve “OFF”

UNFEATHERING

1. Fuel shut off valve “ON”
2. Magneto “ON”
3. Propellor “LOW RPM”
4. Throttle cracked
5. Supercharger “OFF”
6. Depress feather button
7. Mixture “AUTO-RICH”
8. Select START, wait 12 seconds
9. While in START position, give one shot of primer if needed then select MESH
10. When the engine is meshed (turning), continue to prime until engine fires
11. After engine starts, idle at 1,000 RPM, check oil pressure
12. Warm up engine >40 deg oil temperature
13. Generator “ON”
14. Propellor rpm as required

If there is anything I've missed just holler. Video to follow...just to prove it :jump:

Scott and the team did some great work and I think they have got my problems fixed! Here is a couple shots from my most recent flight from a slightly unusual perspective.

I am a bit hesitant to post screenshots after seeing Jankees and Nick's shots but oh well.

"Oh man, this doesn't look good. Send up the fighters!"

This was a brand new B-17G that was named “Ruby’s Raiders” in honor of Corporal Ruby Newell of the 3rd Bomb Division staff. She had been voted as the most beautiful WAC in the ETO in a Stars & Stripes readers’ poll.

Nice looking paint Jan ...

If I may though, the "The Mighty Eighth, Warpaint and Heraldry" by Roger Freeman says of the 401st BG tail painting, that the black lines on the yellow slash are at least 4 inches wide and the slash is 48 inches. I think you need more on both the black bands. :)

This publication is highly recommended for all painters of this bird ...

Where do I download this baby?
