Stuart Green's Pfalz DIIIa in FSX

Hi,
to enjoy Stuart's fantastic Pfalz with Huub's excellent repaints in FSX (DX10 mode), i tried to "fix" the Pfalz for FSX.
I only changed the alpha of the prop in the model with MDLMat:

Download Pfalz DIIIa: http://www.domicilium.com/peveril/hangar/planes/pfalz.htm

1. latest DLLs for MDLMat: http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/download/mwgfxdll.EXE

2. MDLMat: http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/download/MDLMat.zip

3. latest DXTBMP with DDS support: http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/download/dxtbmpx.EXE

Many thanks to Stuart (Pfalz), Huub (repaint) and Lucas (EPEL Scenery)! :applause:

Great news Nils! However I think I can repeat you trick, but how do you know which part and how to change it

As I would love to have all models done by Stuart FSX compatible :d :applause:

Thanks,
Huub

In general, LOD 01 seems to be the exterior and LOD 02 (or higher) the VC.
Everything else is trial by error.
After you have sent the material back and saved the model, it's enough to load the aircraft again, so you don't have to restart FSX.
I think the most of his model should work in FSX and even in DX10 mode.

EDIT: of course make a copy of the mdl before you change something...

You're speaking Greek to me Nils, but I want! Sure looks lovely!

Huub, if you figure out a way, how about uploading all (with Sir Stuart green's permission of course) to the Outhouse. I too would love "all" of Stuart's planes in FSX.

As he still maintains his own web-site he might want to host the FSX compatible mdl files on his own site.

As soon as I have figgered out how to repeat Nils's trick on the other models I will drop Stuart an e-mail.

Cheers,
Huub

Hi
I am experiencing a very strange pb with Stuart Green's Pfalz:

as soon as I try to load the plane, FS tells me it cannot continue due to fatal error, stops and then restart from the beginning .....!!!:banghead:
Only with this plane I have such pb

I run FSX Accel DX10 on Vista 32 bits.

Any idea of the cause ????

Maybe that's more helpful than my lousy English:

I have no problems (tested under Vista64 and DX10).
But my FPS dropped in the outside view badly (not in the VC).
I did convert the prop and fuselage textures to DXT5 dds and the rest to DXT1. Maybe it's too heavy for your system or a bad interaction with other add-ons.
You could try to start the flight with the Trike and then to load the Pfalz.

good news.

Last night I received Stuart's permission to host the FSX compatible FSX mdl files here at the Sim-Outhouse.

I have hoped for an answer like "stop that idiot from botching my models, i already started with FSDS 3.5 and Dave Nunez's FSDSxTweak Suite to update my models for FSX". :crybaby:
The models are really superb! The only reason why i wish they would be native FSX models is because of the performance and the prop/cloud issue.
Many thanks for these brilliant models!:medals::medals::applause:

BTW, The Pfalz is missing 2 textures:
DVII_interior1.bmp
DVII_interior2.bmp

Which you can copy from one of the Fokker's texture folders into each Pfalz texture folder.

And the prop can be fine-tuned via the alpha channel of the propwash.bmp.:wavey:

Wouldn't Bob's propwashs work in FSX?

Thanks to Nils clear instructions it is very simple to do however although the Pfalz looks beautiful in FSX, it is an absolute hog on framerates :banghead:.

Thank you very much Sim-Outhouse and martin Wright.

Nils, I am not such a dummy after all. :jump: I downloaded Martin's MDLMat and after install Stuart's airplanes into FSX, I went directly by your tutorial (the second one :d) and work out the .mdl files for the three.

And I found the problem for my fatal error when trying to fly them italoc. My system's FSX does not like dsd_xml_sound3.gau. Remove that one item from your FSX > Gauges folder and I can almost guarantee your aircraft will load and fly. the guns still fire for effectm, but there will be no sound.

BTW, I substituted the BananaBob's 888-8 32-bit propwashes for all three (found at Screenshot Art): the D.IIIA, D.VII and SPAD VII and all work hunky-dory. Thanks you so much my friends, I am so happy now to start unloading my textures for Stuart's wonderful aircraft to FSX. :ernae::medals:
