Piglet's Porter...

What are some good numbers to make chrome?

Although I can't recall I ever used chrome in a repaint, I think you will need a lot of experimenting, especially with the alphas. From Piglet's textures I know the model is "reflective". Perhaps you could use his reflective part as a start.

Now i have to think of a new one.

Not necessarily, when I look at the current political developments in of Belgium, it might not be necessary to do any operation before the Flemisch part will join the Netherlands. When the don't join we just have to wait for the week their single left F-16 is in use by the Wallons ;).

Some nice repaints made already I see. Great :jump:

The Swiss cammo paint I'm working on is almost done. All I need it the emblem of the Lufttransport Geschwader 7 (LT Geschw 7). I've been looking for it but haven't found it yet...
It's the black emblem on the front of the nose in the picture below. In the emblem is a parachute with a Porter in front. Anyone with a better picture of it?

While I let the paint dry on that one, i started working on an other one. The Patrouille Suisse Porter:

Vincent,

According to the Swiss Air Force web pages, these are the "Abzeichen" from the 7th Lufttransport Staffelkompanie". Although I realise they look quite different from the markings on the Porter in the picture.

Cheers,
Huub

Greg, when you use grey R125 G125 B125 on the texture and R25 G25 B25 on the alpha you will get this chrome spinner.

Personally I like it, but you can play with the grey shades on both the texture as the alphas and see what delivers the best result for you.

Cheers,
Huub

Thanks for the help guys. I do need some more help. What are some good numbers to make chrome? Like the R # 178 B # 178 G # 178 and the alpha numbers to go with that. I have done some more work on the UV-20A Chiricahua paint. For a simple one it is taking me a long time to get it. Oh well I am playing around with the new things you can do to textures in FSX.

Looking forward to this one, very nice. As are all the others so far. :jump:

What sound are you people suggesting for the PC-6?

Warrant, as Tim's current Porter features the Garrett engine, I recommend downloading the Veneaviones Rockwell Turbine Commander 690B for FS9 and using those sounds. To my knowledge, the best sounds ever for the Garrett engines.

Again at www.avsim.com search for veneaviones_rockwell_turbo_commander_690b.zip

Cheers! Mike :salute:

Ok boy I need a lot of help. ok where can I find this part at? I have been looking from day one for it and can't find it. Thanks for your help.

That's the 'venturi tube' and it is labelled as 'venturi' on the original background layer. It's located between and below the upper and lower wing parts. There is a rectangular area that covers both the tube and the support legs.

To be honest I never heard a real Porter so I have no idea what it sounds like, but I really like these sounds: dehavilland_dhc6_twin_otter_the_real_deal.zip over at Avsim.com.

Made for Fs9 though, so no '3D surround sounds'!

I've been using the carenado C206 sound seems to fit quite well but as Ferry said I also havent heard the real thing!

Well that was my guess as well but that part does not texture it all as you see in the photo unless im overlooking something.

As you can see I have some paint on it but the part in front still does not. I was thinking the front part is somewhere else but I can't find it. Thanks for the help.

I'm using the FSD Porter sounds ...not correct for the engine modelled here, but perfect for the PT-6A equipped Porters.

Well that's the correct area for sure. Here's a couple of shots of my current project and you can see the area on the map that's red and an all red venturi tube. Ignore the shading effect as that is being caused by FS Repaint which I use to view the paint on the model. In game it looks correct.
