Could you light my....

...lighthouses ?
,because the Usio's JMK_inf_LightHouse_brick and _white I've installed don't have any effect in the dark...
I 've also noticed that these objects are ships and need to be installed as... but they appears in the MB as inf .....they have fx files and the DP file is in the ship folder ....
Does somebody has got them lighting ?....and where I've missed something ??:kilroy:

I havent tried those light houses, but I have been trying to add a light effect as a DP Extra to an aircraft , it doesn't seem to work at the moment, I havent delved into the effect much so I dont know why.
I did make a few objects that are scasm coded lights, I remember them being quite easy to do.

I've dwldd and tried them even if they was already in the effect folder...with no success :kilroy:.
Even the Buoys don't light .....:mixedsmi:...

Have you cleared out all the filelist.dat files?

Best to clear these out (from the whole sim) and while you're at clear out all the .cdp files. Both these files in all their locations will be replaced and re-created by the sim automatically.

You can use Lindsay Watt´s CFS2 Filelist Eliminator v1.0

If you have multiple install just put a copy in each root folder. Voila! In just 1 second you get rid of many problems.

Unfortunately I don´t know any utility for deleting CDPs.

Ah but SOMEONE figured it out a while back, and I use it all the time !

It's a leetle teenie batch file:


del *.cdp filelist.dat *.dbk *_001.dp /s

;;*index *File <<<-- These can be added in or out as needed; just drop them in after the *_001.dp, and make sure there's a space between the last character and /s !

Just use Notepad to create a small file, name it with the .BAT extension and save...

Go ahead - you can do it ! :jump:

I might just add here that DP_EDIT the gui for editing dp files does not save that EXTRA section where fx files are linked to the dp.
If you use DP_EDIT to tweak dp's you still need to use wordpad to recover the EXTRA entries from the backup "filename.DBK" that DP_EDIT creates.

I think the problem occurred somewhere in the 1970's when David Buoy went to his alter ego Ziggy Lighthouse.....

But seriously.......

Thanks to all for the helps and suggestions I've erased them and reinstalled with all the preventive cures of the dat and cdp files but the (bad)buoys and (ziggy)lighthouses stay in the dark.....no flashing light ....

With Usio's lighthouse, they have to be added in Mission Builder as a ship...not infrastructure.

Add at least 2 way-point. Second coordinates the same as way-point 1.
0 speed do not evade.

Okay!! I 'd not thought about this way.....then I was able to get them flashing :mixedsmi: .
I will include them in the layouts ,to make the gsl, as static objects ,in this state they will not glow in the dark but they suit very well in the coast landscape in the day ,perhaps a new effect entry in the dp ,or a tweak like that..., could make possible to do them flashing in a gsl as an usual object ..?

GSL objects do not show DP extra effects.
Factory stacks dont smoke and lights dont light. This is why these "active objects" are better as mission layouts.

That's something I didn't knew,so I think I will keep the lighthouses as simply(inactive) objects for the gsl ,they are ok for the day light sceneries ,and after free to anybody to do some "light" layouts to flash them during the night missions.

So this could be adapted to get rid of the 'thumbs' files, SC?
 
Hiya JP,

This may already have been mentioned but have you tried the standard Airfield Beacon api macro? Its a static object but it is scalable and goes on and off with the sun. Its rotating green and white.

You might be able to scale it to fit "inside" one of the GSL Lighthousea so that all you see will be the light. Or else just use it by itself.
