Anyone tried the Area 51 - UH-1Y Venom ?

Looks quite accomplished...

My current Benchmark helicopter is the freeware ICARO AW 139.
It is beautifully and consistently modelled in and out, with textures to match.
And it has a properly-functioning autopilot.

Any payware offering has to meet or beat this one.

Hi,

My current Benchmark helicopter is the freeware ICARO AW 139.
Great chopper indeed ... and good sounds and effects.
Just a glitch (you see it in external view only :) ) :
The wheels of main gear and nose gear are buried in the ground for a short laps of time when taking off and landing ..... (when the suspension is working)

I have the Venom and I like it.

Anyone who has any other Area 51 helos will know what to expect.

It's a nice looking model with some cool load options and nice textures.

There seems to be very little as far as systems modeling.

It does look pretty nice,I have their C-5M, Kiowa & AH-1S, and am quite happy with them. To be fair, they haven't had the attention they deserve to the extent that a fair and just appraisal is not really possible. I like them enough to round off my hanger with their Venom, U2 and Viper though. I'm thinking about it, the Skyray has me intrigued now and the Demon mentioned (thinking of those CFS2 carriers in FS9 again :d) (the Cranberry is safe, a must, don't worry Steve, lol).

I do have bucks burning a hole, and I am struggling to think of things to buy, not enough for pedals to join my X52, but enough for some nice kites. (suggestions welcome, I do have a lot already (to much probably, lol))

No such issues here, mate.
I seem to remember you having other contact points problems...mesh perhaps?

Nice helo however, isn't that for FS9 only? Can't FSX version...
Errr...yes. This is the FS9 forum after all.

Elaborate please?

Elaborate please?

Okay, I bought them on 'FlightSim Deal of the Day.com' (whatever happened to that?) for almost silly money, took each fora hop and haven't flown them since. That doesn't reflect on them, as I've had FS die on me (sitting on a purely stock install at the moment, gads), priorto that was rebuilding from a new computer and treading carefully on installing stuff (that turned out a waste of time, ROFLMAO), so never got back to them, amongst so many others (free or pay).

All I remember is liking them and being happy with the money spent (very, they were a bargain), enough to consider buying the rest for my Birthday. I'll dig them out tomorrow for a second blast in my BLAND install, to see if I'm after the rest and will report back with screenies. Don't expect nice, as I said vanilla install.

I'd buy them tonight but I have NO e-mail, my new ISP went live today, still have to set up new mail accounts, to tired, it's 00:37 here and been up since 05:30. A new dawn tomorrow, :d.

Check this little video and speak more about meshes .. lol...
Yes you do have an issue...mine doesn't do that, it sits smoothly down on its wheels as in the pics above.
Perhaps try taking it off an AFCAD/runway, somewhere in the bush, see if it still does that?

Cool, thanks Jamie

ICARO AW 139 Over the Area51 Venom. I have both in both sims and get more satisfaction and performance out of the ICARO.

Hi,

Yes you do have an issue
Do you have the same contact points ?

This phenomena is weird .. as I have other crafts with active suspension and they don't show the glitch :)
I remember some discussions from Milton Shupe about sometime the bad design of contact points .. particulary for the damper space regard to the position on ground .. etc ... (Static Compression Ratio , static compression and Damping ratio) .. diameter of wheels .. etc ..

Doesn't look like it...

Hi,

Ooops .. so weird :)

Will give a go at yours :)

EDITED:

Mor bad .. lol (more burried!) :)

Will download it again for check if my contacts points are the original (and also possible it was a revision in the time gasp ...)

Hi,

So ... there we are ....
My contact points parameters are the originals ... yours not ....
Do you have a meshes problem .. ? LOL
All this is weird :)
I have the feeling I will spend sometime with Aircraft Container Manager ROFL

apologies

Wing Z,

didn't get a chance to chuck them in for screenies. My new ISP began last night, problems with that and e-mail changing keptme busy. I did almost buy the remaining three to my hanger, but paypal had suspended my account pending some new security questions/password change. Duly did that or at least tried, went round in circles most of the evening trying to get the info they required to 'take', eventually got it sorted tonight. What a shower of ****. Meanwhile decided to get something else for my birthday (complete Babylon 5 collection on DVD, it's a reminiscing thing). Will try tonight to get screenies, but am still trawling through my loggins to update my e-mail addy.

fingers crossed,
Jamie

Well that's pretty straight forward, thanks!

Don't recall changing them...whatever, they work for me

...didn't get a chance to chuck them in for screenies...
No worries, you have bigger issues right now, I'd say!
Whenever you do get a chance, be nice to see, thanks.

Hi,

Don't recall changing them...whatever, they work for me

Well .. I made some experiments .....
In fact .. you can modify freely the contacts points (the wheels) with any values .. (in the aircraft.cfg) and you will not see any visibles results :) ... it's like the contact points are completely dependents of the model file ...
