REX is released!

Also removed.

But to be fair to Rex, I checked the size of Fex when insalled with the SHD update, and it's bigger at 8.85gb.

I am missing something here...why did you guys remove REX....heck for 60 bucks I would have left it in.

For the pleasure of flying and ease of use I don't think you can beat Fex at the moment.

Don't get me wrong,Rex is fine but too complex for me, far too many things that need setting up to get it as you want it. It's more time consuming, you can spend more time playing with it than flying.

If I want to take a picture in a different sky or water enviroment than the one I'm flying in, I can change it in Fex a lot quicker, without having to think, have I set this or that.

Also I prefer the choice of water effects in Fex, what you see is what you get. I had six goes at setting the water as I want it to be in Rex, took over an hour of messing around and I still was not happy with the result.

As far as 60Aus$ (£26 in GBP) if ya don't try it how will ya know if ya gonna like it, or how well it works. Eventually it might become as easy to use as Fex but in the meantime, I'll store it, maybe try it again in the future.

To me it's like the Accusim version of Flightsim weather, a great product as I said before, but I ain't got the time for it right now.

i must admit, i'm impressed with it :jump:

Yup, me too. The thing that impresses me most is the atmosphere it adds. I thought it would be the clouds that would knock me over, but it is the whole package and the effect it has on my enjoyment of the sim. Flights are much more interesting and feel much more real now.

You took the words right out of my mouth Scratch.

It's a winner for me.

Right with you scratch. look at these two photos, one in FS9 with Active Sky 6.5 textures, the other in FSX with REX textures. Both use Stuart's Pfalz D.IIIa and are shot using Active Sky 6.5 METAR reading at the same time of sunset this evening. I don;t know how the atmosphere look in FEX, but REX nailed my home sky at the time. Maybe coincidence? But it sure looks right and lovely. Yeah Moe, it's slightly less than $40.00 Yank.

I'm keeping it, that's for sure.

What a garbage...after 12 hours of downloading, unwraping bla,bla..got a finaly to install screen...which couldnt be performed because of a corrupted file..so the option is to start all over again or look for my baseball bat..:censored:

Hi All,

Please don't compare FS04 and FSX graphics using ANY program! That is really not a fair comparison. The weather engines are different as are the texture engines.

Thanks!

Correct - And 6.5 isn't the pure FSX product....:cost1:

I thank you gentlemen for all the information.

Thanks also go to everybody else that gave their honest evaluation of this product!

Clouds (3D & Cirrus)
Including weather engine/flight planner and weather themes.
User-selectable textures in hi definition as well.
There ya have it

Timest covered it all. there no land textures other than runway and taxi enhancements along with lighting. The water can be adjusted.

Below are some examples of the interfaces to play with in REX. I have also included two shot of the ocean water, one deep water and another shallow.

Hmmmm, is it just me who thinks the FS9 screenshot looks more realistic. The FEX textures look like cardboard cutouts and look terrible IMHO.

Sure...cardbord indeed.:friday:(REX shots) .

First of all, it's not FEX, it's "REX" in my screen. Yago's following shots are "FEX" and by Gawd, I like them, I may have to look into that as well and pit it against REX. Oh well, another paycheck on the 15th. :friday:

While the FSX with REX looks to be the better weather engine, the clouds look much too solid for my taste.

I noticed some other people complaining about an artificial look but on some screens it looks absolutely stunningly real! So I guess may involve tweaking the REX options to get a result which you personally like.

I had held off buying FEX until REX was released, and see what others had to say in their reviews about which one was "better". After looking at all the screenies and comments, I'm still not sure which way to go... :isadizzy::banghead: Looking at pretty screenshots is one thing, but the proof is really in actually flying in the environment. I wish I could afford both! I think I'll wait for awhile and look at some more feedback and then decide. One of them is going to be my Christmas present along with some new aircraft. Thanks for the comments y'all... :mixedsmi:

I'm in the same boat. I'm happy enough with my ASX/XGraphics package at the moment :mixedsmi:
