F7F Tigercat SOH Project

Thanks Ed. Looks great.

I noticed that the default prop texture did not have an alpha channel. Here is one I tweaked if anyone is interested.

Only had a few minutes yesterday to fly this beauty, between packing for the trip back to the Fatherland, flying the real Saratoga one more time in 2010 and buying a few remaining items to bring back to the family and friends.

Simply put this is one amazing package already....and it promises to get even better.
My hat is off to all of those involved. Thank you very much.

It would go into each flightsim section for each aircraft that you put the file into the textures.

Hi,

[fltsim.0]

title=F7F-3S Unfinished
sim=f7f-300
panel=soh
model=F7F-300

kb_reference=
atc_id_enable=1
atc_id=
ui_manufacturer=MILTON_TIGERCAT
ui_type=F7F-3 Unfinished
ui_variation=F7F-300
prop_anim_ratio=1.025
visual_damage=1
Description=F7F-3 Single Seat Fighter w/tank
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=Military
atc_flight_number=
atc_id_color=0x00000000

The location is not important (up or down)
The important is to have it in each fltsim entries ....
You can play with the number 1.025 :)

Ya can stick it anywhere in each aircraft listing. I usually pair it with changing the "visual_damage=1" entry and add them just above the manufacturer entry. I've found most planes' props freeze once airborne and the prop animation entry frees them up to spin happily. You can adjust the value up or down to achieve the desired appearance.

Interestingly, some planes' props will function just fine without this addition but I've never figured out why.

Hi,

In this case .. methink the parameter is already adjusted in the model file ....

What I find is that the "blurred" prop will not show movement initially (as if synched with the camera) until you pull the prop pitch or RPM's back to climb power and then later at cruise power settings.

Otherwise, if you just throw everything max forward and fly that way, you will not have movement until you reached significant altitude to reduce air density and therefore prop RPMs.

I never have an issue with this at full power because as soon I am am off the runway at climb speeds, I reduce power and rpm to climb settings, and that changes the visuals. The only time you should see no movement is on your takeoff run.

In other words, this happens at max RPMs. You should not be a max rpms except at takeoff power, IMO. :)

One more livery. . .this one from VMF-312 based at MCAS El Toro in 1946. The green/white bands were used to signify aircraft involved in Instrument Training. Still have work to do on it, but pretty close.

A few In-Sim shots. . . .noticed that the Cowl Flaps are not the correct color. They must be on a separate texture. . . .I'll get that corrected. Probably upload around lunch time tomorrow.:salute:

The screenshots look great everyone! I can't wait to try her out tomorrow! :jump::jump::jump:

I wish there were something I could help with... :salute:

I ran into the same thing making my paint job... I don't believe the cowl flaps are on a separate texture, but they use some pixel or two of the cowl paint. This is why you didn't see it on your other scheme, where it's the same blue as everything else. On this scheme, take a look at the inside of your landing gear covers- I'll bet that it's the same color as the cowl flap. Just a little texture mapping glitch, no biggie... it's a sweet looking paint job anyway!

Just checked the model mapping; for both engines, the cowlflaps are mapped as part of the left engine nacelle. So whatever you paint the left cowl flaps will carry to the right side. The engine cowlings and nacelles are however on their own maps.

Keep in mind that when I did a quickie mapping on this aircraft, it was so that Fliger747 could view everything in FSX. There was no intention to release it. :)
