Need to know if the following programs will run under the "XP" compatability of Win 7
It looks like I will be building a new system fairly soon. Not 100% certain of this, but 92% certain. Going to build a killer system...or as killer as I can get for around $800. Initially, I will be running Win XP Pro...but in time I want to upgrade to Win 7 Ultimate or Pro 64-bit...which ever one it is that has the backward compatibility to run XP 32-bit software. But I need to know if the following software can be run this way:
Photoshop 7.0
Aircraft Container Manager
Air Wrench
Martin Wright's DXTbmp, MDLmat and MDLcolor
Ivan Hsu's MDLC using the Windows interface by Morton (I think it is by Morton).
FS Panel Studio
FSDS Version 3 and higher (not that I know how to use it, but I dream that one day I will).
Does anyone run the 64-bit version of Window 7 Ultimate/Pro and found that these software items can be run under the compatibility thingie?
I really want to step up to the latest and greatest, since I am likely stepping up to a 6-core CPU, a 1gig graphics card, 4gig of RAM, 3 SATA hard drives. But if the above software, which I use to tweak, modify and paint sim aircraft can not be used under Win 7, then I will stick with XP Pro.
Another option, if it is possible, is to have a dual boot set up with Win 7 64-Bit and XP Pro installed on their own HDs.
