The US Naval Aviation is celebrating it's 100th birthday this year with the "Heritage Paint Project". Line aircraft are being painted in Vintage colors. Here's a link with a few so far. I havent dugg any deaper on this, but I would guess there are many more neat pics of these aircraft in their new (Old) Colors :) I'm sure this will have our awesome FS Painters going Hog wild!!!!!

Awesome!

Thanks for this HU.
Isn't it striking how great average-looking aircraft like the Hornet (or even cretins like the Hoover) can appear if only painted in the right colors?

Looking forward to the announced Orion in "Strawberry 5" PBY scheme.

This is really a tremendous source for repainters!

Cheers,
Markus.

The T-45 Goshawk looks great in those pre-war colors. I think I will have to slap those paints onto the IRIS T-45.

Thanks, I liked the Goshawks best, but that pixelated Hornet must be a beast to do.
Been there done that. Attempted VMFA-314's Digi boss bird, and gave up. If i ever get around to rebuilding my AF Hornet paint kit I started, I might give that tri color Legacy Hornet a go.

Beautiful, I wish this could become the standard colours again! The look of low-vis has became so boring now. All grey! These blue camo Hornets look so great, it reminds me of JASDF F-2's.
