I like biplanes...

I don't know if all of these planes will work in FSX or not...but Top Flight Simulations (NCGent here on SOH) has a nice collection of bi-planes and mono-planes from that same era. I know Chris does a lot of testing in FSX as a lot of his packages are marketed as FSX compliant but are not FSX Native. I will have to drop these buggers into FSX and check them out.

Check them out....even if you buy them for FS9 use. The prices on these planes are quite nice....as are the planes themselves. Now don't go expecting clickable this and flickable that...these are simple planes from a simple time...and they are modeled to fit that. Nothing in the cockpits that is not needed. Chris's modeling skills have really sharpened over the years...I have virtually everything he has ever done...well, from his first VC equipped plane on. His current project, a Vultee BT-13, is looking amazing! The details in the VC are stunning.

Two favorite ones of mine... Grumman F3F-2 and Curtiss P-6 Hawk. Hawk has sweet sounding engine and would love to see this one redone.

Thanks for the compliments, guys ! :salute:

Regarding ETA : 'IWBFWIWBF' ( It Will Be Finished When It Will Be Finished )

We want this birdie to come with as many features as FSX will let us apply,i.e. no 'hit Ctrl/E and off you go' or anything like that. And we have more pots on the native FSX stove too..

Cheers,
Jan
I had a friend who owned one in real life. Has a 450 P&W on it. I flew in it once years ago. If the there was any wind and he was with about 1/2 fuel, he could get that thing off the ground in about 50 feet after brake release! Thing flew like it was on rails. He would bring it to Oshkosh every year and get a lot of offers for it. It was a beauty.

Jens B. Kristensen's Felixstone F.2a is for FSX also.

Also Michel Migaud's Nieuport 17C1 and Manuele Villa's SVA 5 & 9 port over and fly very well in FSX. For that matter, I get excellent results from Stuart Green's D.VII and D.III in FSX. And they all look better than in FS9.

The mighty Stringbag by yours truly and Flying Stations. :)

A BIG thank you Roger for starting this thread...

I love biplanes and all those answers made me realize that I had been missing on some great addons; The Swordfish from Mathias and Flying Stations being one such...

I made a quick round of the usual sites and the only repaint that I found is a pack from Bruce 448. Anyone know if there are more floating around ? ...:kilroy:

Update: Found another one at Classic British Files...

I really enjoy flying the "Stringbag"... :jump:

Thanks Mathias

That N3N has always caught my attention, Jan. To reiterate, any news is better than no news. As long as it's still simmering. What's cooking?

Thanks for your interest, Oleboy, Heywood too :salute:

Well, since you're asking, for quite many moons already i am trying hard to breath life into our new pilot chappy via fully fledged 'skin&bones' animation. All new procedure to me and, as we say overhere, that sure ain't no cat's piss... ( always wondered why most FSX devs don't bother about a fully animated pilot figure.... now i know why... :) ) Not finished yet but i hope to get there eventually... 3D gauges are in and working, wheeled versions just about finished, float versions still to do.

Can't promise you your check up flight aboard the N3N anytime soon but it wouldn't hurt to head on over to your flight clothing dispatcher and try on a suit, life vest, cap, and chute. Also like we say overhere, it can freeze or it can thaw...

Cheers,
Jan

thank you for the update, Jan

head turning, blinky-eyed, pilot character - check

here's hoping the creek don't rise, freeze, or drown the cat.:wavey:

...have you gotten the idea that I am eager to have this N3N ?

Very nice pilot!

One point to note with skinned animations is that they don't seem to take visibility tags too well so you can either have a pilot who disappears when the aircraft is shutdown, or one who's beautifully animated.

Dang! Bad news but thanks much for the tip, Skipper !

We didn't think about that yet but it's not really surprising, can't merge the figure with another aircraft model just like that neither, atleast not when it needs to be relocated.

Of course we *do* very much like an all bells and whistles parked status of the model. Who knows, we have a brilliant XML programmer on the the team, he has never let us down...

Thanks again for the tip, Skippy ! :salute:

Cheers,
Jan

Thanks very much Jan, for the update. I hope, for your sake things work out concerning the pilot model. It looks very nice. Please keep us up to date on you're teams progress.

Hello, I am new to this website :mixedsmi:

I was wondering if anybody knew where I could find a good, detailed freeware model of Sean D. Tucker's Oracle stunt biplane. Also, I would prefer it to be frame-rate friendly.

Thank you,

Walter :jump:
