• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

John Travolta uses his 707 for Haiti relief

But only after this;

A new B-17 crew about to go on their first bomb run.
Pilot- "Keep the chatting to a minimum on com, and no politics, no religion, no women, understood?"
Right waist gunner- "Why no politics, skipper?"
Pilot- "Because, believe it or not, we're not all sharing your political views!"
Tail gunner- "And how about religion?"
Pilot- "Because, believe it or not, we're not all sharing your religious beliefs!"
Ball turret gunner- "OK then... but why not women?"
Pilot- "Because, believe it or not, we're all sharing yours!!!"

Have a nice day:wavey:

Hahahahahaha! :d

On-topic:
Good for Haiti, good for Travolta.

Roger that.... A horrible death, museum time...

I take that back. Being retired to a museum isnt all that bad. A bad airplane death would be being destroyed in a storm, rotting in a field, crashing. At least in the museum, it can be seen by many generations to come.

Just sorry that it isnt flown anymore, like they do with museums here with War Birds, going to air shows around the country and world.

saw this plane years ago at sanford airport when i was undergoing training and it was in final stages of restoration ( if i remember correctly overhaul of engines and complete retrofit of radio communications and navigation equipments ) . i saw it's first runnup tests and test flight afterward since it had been on the airport on static for over a year at that point .
truly a beautiful machine .

as mentioned before , whatever he wears flying it , he is truly doing something fantastic for all those in need and definitely a lot more than most other people who have their own airplanes and/or have the financial means to do the same thing .
BRAVO Mr Travolta .

John Travolta 707

John has an ATR rating and checked out to fly 747's. He flies for Quantis airlines if not working on a movie. In fact his 707 was in the Quantis colors for sometime. The tail number is N1JT. He has it here at Deer Valley airport every now and then for a week at a time. Deer Valley is just north of Phoenix AZ. I have been told that he has Honeyweld do electrical work on it at ther hanger at Deer Valley airport.

Celebrity Pilots

Actually, to be strictly accurate, John Travolta is officially a "goodwill ambassador" for Qantas, I don't believe he actually flies for them officially - however, he does put his own 707 to good use (viz the Haiti flights), and does a lot of work with Qantas. And he was involved in helping the repatriation of VH-XBA from Southend in the UK to Australia - VH-XBA was actually Qantas' first -138, and a worthy candidate for preservation.

We do have a 'celebrity pilot' here in the UK however who does fly regularly with an airline; Bruce Dickinson, lead singer of Iron Maiden, flies as a captain for Astreus when he isn't on tour (and flies the Iron Maiden 757 when they are on tour!!) and is now also their Marketing Director.

Didn't read the whole thread, eh? Having just looked at the FAA Civil Aviation Registry* (again), his status hasn't changed:

What with all of the REALLY IMPORTANT things happening in our world, even as we "discuss" Mr. Travolta's clothing choices, don't you guys have anything worthwhile to do?
