This is a picture of the joystick.

Just bought a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro Joystick thats like new with the software installation CD for $45 US and it shows no where of being used at all.

The guy I got it from says he only used the joystick a couple of times.

Was this a good buy or not?

I have heard a lot of good things about the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro Joystick.

Is anyone using this in windows 7?

I have never used a Force Feedback joystick before can't what to get this.:wiggle:

Going to use this for CFS3 and CLoD and the X52 for FSX.

Do you think the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro is as good as this Joystick for around $600US?

I have had one for about 8 years and have had no problems with it. Not to bad a price at $45. I use it with vista 32 bit.

IIRC it's only any good if you have an old-style game port, so I couldn't say if Win7 will play.

The Sidewinder ForceFeedback 2 has a USB connection and I wouldn't be without mine in Win7 and XP: I rely on the FFB stall warning too much!

I'm going to have to get the adapter to put on the Joystick.

I'm going to look for something cheaper if not I will have to get this.

I see that there is no hat switch. Glad I have TIR5.

I'M really looking foreword to this joystick with the Force Feedback.

Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 Joystick USB PC

USED AND IN EXCELLENT WORKING TESTED CONDITION.

IN GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION WITH MINOR SCUFFS AND SCRATCHES FROM STORAGE.

I will get this Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 Joystick USB PC this week.
At $50.14 USD not a bad buy.

I have seen where people where asking $120.00 for a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 Joystick USB PC and not all the functions working.

Thanks for the help with this guys.

They made a game port to USB adapter for these joysticks. I use one for my non-FFB stick that I've been using since '02. I prefer this stick to the FFB version that I used previously.

you would be amazed
what you can find at Goodwill.
i have 2 shelves packed with sticks,
wheels and pedals that
i've gotten there for under $10US, each.
many different brands of varying condition.

i'm currently using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro ($3.99)
for ailerons, elevators and hat,
the throttle axis is set for elevator trim,
12 buttons for other stuff.
then, a Thrustmaster Topgun ($5.99)
for the throttle T handle and rudder on the handle,
the hat, and 8 buttons for stuff.

next, a circuit board from an apple usb keyboard
hard wired to three levers i've made
for flaps, gear and speed brakes
and a TeamSpeak push to talk button.
more in the works.
the apple board gives me over a hundred button options.

finally, i got this little baby for Christmas;
http://www.leobodnar.com/products/BU0836X/
i could never afford it, but the family all went in on it.
i am using it for radios and auto pilot
controls that i am building.
yeah, i could buy the ELMA E37, but at $30US each,
the price could get out of hand quick,
so i'll just make them myself.

oops, i got carried away, sorry.
i apologize for hijacking your thread.
i'm a bit of a controller freak.

so, bottom line,
if you are happy with the MSSWFF Pro
and the price you are paying,
more power to ya.
all i'm saying is, if you are patient
and don't mind putting forth the effort,
you might be able to do better.

just don't forget to have fun

smilo,

Sounds like you have what it takes to be a PC pilot.

If you look around you can find things for a good price.

From what I'v asked at places like Best Buy the sell of PC pilot goods are on the decline.

So for people like us that still enjoy flight sim's things are getting cheaper to get.

In the USA anyway.

The only new flight sim that I know of is Cliff over Dover a WWII sim.

As a flight sim guy I have this sim and will try to support what thy are doing in the hope thy see that there is interest in a modern flight sim with DX10/11.

Thank you for your input.

I bought this at Best Buy last week when I bought a new PC with Windows 7.
Works perfect with FSX & CFS3 and I love all the buttons.
I had the Logitech Wingman for years and wished for more buttons.

It's not available for shipping to you from the Best Buy site but if the store doesn't have one in stock, they can order it
for you shipped to the store and you can pick it up at the store.

I am surprised how much alike the two sticks are your force feedback and my Sidewinder Precision 2 USB, look about the same..
WOW..

HH, that's what I've got for a backup stick should my Sidewinder 1 ever bite the dust. Although it doesn't have as many buttons as I've got now.

it could be that's why there are so many sticks at Goodwill.
i have actually found brand new, still in the box,
maybe taken out once.
people just aren't into it.
as i see it, this hobby takes a lot of time and energy
and the learning curve can be a little difficult.
it's definitely not for instant gratification.

....
...this is the one i replaced my MS stick with.
it's not as beefy as the MS and no FF,
but, 12 buttons!! how cool is that?
Is there a way to mount the joystick to the table?

flyer01
i would have to ask about your table?
what kind of trouble are you going to get into
if you poke holes into it,
or attach velcro to it?

personally, i find that table or desk
height is way to high for me.
i prefer my controller just above my thighs,
with the throttle quadrant just to my right,
radio and auto-pilot to my right.
it's basically, an A-20 layout.

so, i attached a 1 1/2" x 12'x 2' extension to my "table top",
which is a piece of 3/4 plywood.
the extension lowers the surface
by 1 1/2"+3/4"=2 1/2" at the bottom.
(one keyboard sits on this at about a 30* angle)

to the extension bottom,
i through bolted a small piece of 1/2" plywood
that can swivel out toward me,
it provides a lower base for my stick.
the stick can be set aside,
so i can swivel the base out of the way when i need to get up.
also, the leading edge of the 1 1/2" extension
keeps the stick from sliding forward.

i guess i should point out that my table top is only 23" high
and that my seat is out of my old dead gmc safari van.
i look straight at a 48" TV/monitor,
with a 19" CRT extension, just off to the upper right.
under that CRT is another 19"CRT,
which is a monitor for the "communications" computer.
someday, maybe LCDs when these die and prices go down.

wife thinks i'm nuts,
which i am....
but it's better than sitting on the sofa,
watching tv and slopping down beers.

dang....there i go again...sorry.

if you don't want to damage your desk/table top,
by drilling holes, putting in screws, or gluing down velcro,
i just had a thought,
my wife got some cool stuff for kitchen drawer and shelf liners.
it's a coated mesh, comes in rolls, can be cut and is non slip.
she even uses the stuff when she transports cakes.
it keeps them from slipping and sliding.
cool stuff.
i'll see if i can find out what it's called,
if you are interested.

Is there a way to mount the joystick to the table?

Yes, flooring adhesive! :icon_lol: Seriously, if you need to mount this baby to the table then you ought to lighten up with the grip and forearm muscles. The very wide base and its noticeable weight keep it in position. If you find it sliding around then either the rubber feet are missing or you're overdoing the beeswax polish...

Now thats funny!:icon_lol: I have never had a Force Feedback befor so I will do as you say.
excellent point, hs
the term, ham fisted comes to mind.
relax and you will have better control
ham fisted------- ya that's it. Good one.:icon_lol:
