One thing you see a fair bit is "its to slow for me" is said about some planes, so ... basicly .. how slow do you think is to slow? :) (speed is in MPH)

Maybe a companion poll, "how fast is too fast"?

Be sure and leave an option for "NEVER!" Blurried textures be damned...

Forgive my stupidity, but shouldn't it be too slow? As long as it flies, it's not too slow..

reminds me of a PBY pilot that once told me:

"Flaps? We don't need flaps, we're so slow on landing that our only worries are bird strikes.......from the rear!"

This post is a great example of why I never fly a few planes in my Hangar, the A2A Cub, Ant's P2002, Default C172, and any ultralights.

I agree with Meshman's idea of this companion poll because I rarely find a plane too slow for my taste, as long as the visuals and sounds are above average or better...

Sometimes, I find some planes so fast that I stop flying them completely after the second crash landing and I only let them sit on the tarmac and look at them from time to time (because of their above average visuals) which would most likely send them in the "too slow" category definitively... :icon_lol:

I have always been a speed freak. I modeled aircraft like the P-38 and other super powered war birds so I can fly FAST. Now, since I started flying in real life, I came to really enjoy low and slow! Though its rather odd to consider 120MPH slow. Doing that on my motorcycle feel insanly risky and massivly illegal!

To me, it's relative. If I'm going less than 20 nm, there's no such thing as too slow. Between 20 and 100nm, up to 50mph might be too slow. Outside of that, I want something that cruises at least 100mph, and only because I like to feel like I could get there faster flying than driving.

On the flip side, for distances less than 100nm, I agree there could be a "too fast", for two reasons: 1) it takes that much distance when traveling above mach 1 just to set up the approach; and 2) I like to feel as though I actually got to fly the plane, rather than just take off and land.

Minimums for cruise speeds...

GA aircraft: 300 km/h
Turboprops: 550 km/h
Jets: 750 km/h

When I moved from Flight Unlimited and Pro Pilot to flying in MSFS I flew almost exclusively Military Fighters. I come from a Fighter background with the AF and that's all I was interested in. Anything less was too slow by those standards. Then I started moving into GA aircraft but still stayed with those that averaged around 200kts. . . .it was a compromise but I did my best to overlook it. Then I got interested in Ultralights, which was something I had always wanted to try in real life and never had the opportunity. Another compromise. . . .grin and bare it.

Finally (and this is in no way a slap against the developers or the work that went into it) I purchased the A2A Cub and that was the proverbial straw. I had reached the limits of my patience with an airplane that I could have run faster than it seemed to fly. It's no wonder it was so popular as a trainer. . .you couldn't go fast enough or high enough to hurt yourself, lol.

Can't vote, I also own helicopter simulator hardware so hovering is nice, too :mixedsmi::icon29:

If it gets off the ground...it's fast enough for me. I love small GA aircraft, vintage GA and military aircraft, heavy bombers and transports, and a mix of modern fast-jet types. If I'm in the mood for a flight in the Piper Cub, then it is the right speed. If I am in the mood for a fast flight, then the Cub is too slow but the F-4 at Mach2 is just right. It really depends on the mood I'm in on what I like at that time....but all-in-all, if it has wings and moves fast enough to get airborne, it's perfect in my books.

I'd love to say that there's no such thing as too slow for me, but that wouldn't be quite honest. I love GA, and I can noodle along at 100kts for hours. When the speeds start dipping down into the 70's or below, I start getting a little antsy. My perfect GA plane would be an A2A Super Cub w/Accusim.

It needs to be fast enough to get from A to B in the amount of time I have available. That varies with my schedule and where I want to fly.

This basically states it for me. It depends on the flight. Cross country, literally? I want something fast. Flying from one Orbx airfield to the next closest Orbx airfield? Too slow doesn't exist. ;)

Headwind that is faster than airspeed is really slow :engel016:
Me trying work work out XML code is really slow :kilroy:
600 Knts at 50 ft is ok but not if my wife or daughter is driving :running:
