Wilco Harrier (Download version released!)

Having a go at repainting this one..

Have a few questions about this aircraft.

Will it hover,vertical takeoff,and landing or is a slow roll with that helo feel. I'm sure it has a click-able cockpit,but can you start and control some of the basic function with the keyboard and joystick.

Yes.I found it to be not system heavy, and like the RW harrier, you've and extra lever in the cockpit to control the noozels- also mapped in increments to the shiftF1-F4, same as prop control. A bit of a frame hog on a modest system- I'm hamboned on a NVIDA 4xxx card that needs upgrading, but its totaly playable at sea with 20 some odd ships of OPERATION CORPORATE running. My sole grummble is that the GR3 shares the SHARs cockpit, and Wilco needs to hire a new texture painter- I think they got the guy who did the Acceleration stuff. Also DL Portsmouth Highrises from FS.com- It has quite a nice AI 'Lusty with a working ramp porthigh.zip . That file is FS9, but the ship is FSX, so toss the scenery and keep the carrier.

I know that i am a bit late at this party, but did someone told Wilco or AH that there are a few things that need to be fixed ? I found gaps in the right wing-section and at the weapons - they "hang in the Air" also a small ufo between the maingear - please AH, fix it ! It is a very "funny to fly" Jet, with in my opinion unparalleled flight dynamics (very, very good !!!!) but the external model need some work.

I have now uploaded the 3sqn winter cammo paint for all who are intrested.

There is also a good RAF Gutersloh freeware scenery, former home of 3sqn RAF that can be found at UKMil registration is required to download the scenery.

Hi Dirk,

Thats known as a dog tooth in the wing as is designed to be there, Quoted from Wiki;

A "dogtooth" in aviation is a wing or tailplane design where the leading edge of the airfoil has a noticeable "notch." Many high-performance aircraft use the dogtooth design, which induces a vortex over the wing to reduce boundary layer separation, increasing lift and improving resistance to stall. Some of the most well-known uses of the dogtooth is in the stabilizer of the F-15 Eagle, the wings of the F-4 Phantom II, F/A-18 Super Hornet, or the CF-105 Arrow. It was first implemented in the Flyer IV of the Wright brothers.
The weapons hanging i posted about that on here but nothings been done...

Sweet! Where is it?

I think the issue is that the sky appears to be showing through it, not that there is a dog tooth in the wing.

The 'Other' Harrier

Well, since everyone here is crazy about Harriers, how about giving up some 'equal' time to the 'other' Harriers? (Just kidding). But I am showing off my FDEs. Compare the 'handling'? Why not. Only fair (hehe). But I don't have Wilco version so I can't 'vote'.

Harrier GR.7, by Adam Preece of AP Designs, in FS9, FDEs by Napamule. 11July31. It WORKS the same' in FSX Acceleration as you see in video (FS9).

Patch for navigation systems

After some mails to Wilco and the FlightSim Pilot Shop (great service by both of them) I finally gotten my hands on version 2 of the Harrier. Overall it's a lovely aircraft, especially the external model. However, there seem to be a few bits wrong with it and I was wondering if you guys also experience these issues (I did install according to the instructions provided by Wilco)? The most serious ones are connected to the navigation systems: they seem to be all FU (also referring to post#108 by AndyE1976 on page 8 of this thread):

1) the compass rose on the ADF/VOR-indicator seems to be off;
2) the ADF-needle doesn't work;
3) the DME-indicators don't work;
4) the HSI doesn't work;
5) radar buttons B, D and E don't work (Edit: although the radar range works with other buttons);
6) on the fuel selector you can select "Aux Right" and "Aux Left". However, these auxiliary tanks aren't there, so using the fuel selector results in the engine shutting down. Also, the fuel selector starts out with "All tanks" when you mouse over it. Once you move the fuel selector, you can't go back to this setting.
7) pet pieve: that absolutely ugly default MCP.

These issues were also there with version 1.0a and I was kind of hoping they had been ironed out by version 2. I don't think it's because of my setup, but just to be sure I'm asking you guys.

Retired Marine Col. buddy of mine flew those in the Gulf War, including having a wingman shot down by a shoulder launched missile...... Nice

Fix for Harrier lights ?

For those interested, the auxilliary intake doors now work as they should.

Shots show, 1) Engine off with the doors flopped shut from about halfway down.2) Engine running on ground, doors opened by suction. 3) About 120kias pressure equalising 4) Normal flight, intake pressure closed doors.

Hope that will fit the bill.:engel016:

As i'm understand you are involved with this product. I woul like to know if there is a FIX for the Harrier landing + Taxi Lights. Some month ago i was checking with my product account but could not find any indication. The only thing i see are many claims about it.

Pls. be so kind and inform about the actual situation. The aircraft is ok. As far as i remember the only update was the autopilot.

Thanks in advance for you attention,
regards,
Raimund

Along the lines of the post above, on the Artificial Horizon/Compass gauge, the compass does not function.

Also, the HUD is placed incorrectly with the windvane post showing blocking the HUD.
