T-38A Is OUT!

Just a heads up with regards to the NAVY texture, it seems a 1 has been placed in the sim= line. This could possibly be due to some individuals having the SP installed, or was just a mistype. Anyway, I just removed the 1 and it works fine. Thanks again for the great repaint.

Tpet, I just had the same issue as I installed the latest installer (T38A3) and all of the extra liveries I had installed wouldn't work. I am re-uploading to the server now with the fix. Thank you.

Great looking livery! However, that's the US Navy Test Pilot School...not Fighter Weapons School or Top Gun...two different schools. Awesome looking though and that's the one that will make me get this T-38 so I can add it to the naval aircraft that I am flying exclusively lately!

And you know what the sad thing is. I am in the real US Navy and did not realize this. Oopps. Is what I get for being stuck in helicopters my whole career. We still have to do that black Soviet livery from the movie. So I guess that one will qualify. :icon_lol: Suppose I could just stop being lazy myself and wipe all the stencils off of the Beale Bandit and put the star on the tail. Would certaintly be a cool one to have.

Deadly Black Eagles!!! I got to spend the afternoon with the 435th a few weeks ago and get some cockpit time in their T-38Cs. They are a good group of guys, all high-time fighter pilots, many with combat experience, who were assigned to teach new pilots the transition into fighters.

Looking forward to that repaint.:salute::salute:

Hi,

As an airport fire-fighter it would be hard for me to jettison the canopies without a screw driver. Normal canopy opening hatch also feature screws instead of the normal thumb/forefinger locks. Why is that?

Well taking a look at the 00-80R-14-1 (Aircraft Emergency Rescue Information Manual) just says for the T-38A/C I need a dearming tool, power rescue saw, a Safety Pin (provides part number), and a Fire Drill II. As far as gaining entry it just says the emergency access panel is held closed by a regular latch (no tools required), and to pull the canopy jettison emergency D handles approximately 6 feet. As a backup plan it says to use the saw to cut through canopy framing.

You may have a different manual than me. I think the panel you are referring to is the regular way to open the canopies from the exterior (usually using a quick release fastener tool of some sort, I have only worked on helicopters so not to familiar with them).. I hope you guys have access to this stuff being an airport firefighter. I know we are required to keep this book at hand at all times for the just in case a transiting bird has issues. I know they have bigger ones that encompass all aircraft made. The one I am reading from now just covers all military types.

The point I am trying to make is that you have portrayed the emergency door covering the D handle (1 ea side in front of the rescue arrow) and the normal canopy opening hatch with screws/ fasteners instead of latches (1 on each of the emergency hatches and two on the normal canopy opening hatch). A new twist on rivet counting...LOL, sorry I couldn't resist. Good catch, but something an airport fire fighter would, of course, be the one to notice.

I apologize Dag.. I thought you were making a statement about the real aircraft/wondering how you would do it. I never even thought to check it on the model. On the H-60 we just have the stupid levers that release the windows. Never thought to look for the latches, as I am so used to seeing camlocs/quick turn fasteners that I don't think twice about it when I see them on the model.
