RAZBAM news, CFS2 models go freeware

Did you get them running? I still haven't figured out how to overcome the CTD on starting a session. They appear fine on the plane select menu, with all weapons - but lanching the session = CTD.

Curious what your experience is.

thanks,

dl

DL...use this mdl....if this doesn't work then its the panel. You'll need my panel to replace yours.

Hello BC,

Thanks for sending those mdls. I replaced the stock ones with those, and still CTD. I hate to impose on your generosity, but if you don't mind us trying the panel file(s), that may be the key.

Many kind thanks!

I wonder if it may be the 'light states' thingy? Unfortunately, I won't be able to mess with them until my home PC is back in service.

The 'light states' thingy has been resolved in this mdl. That's why i offered it.

DL, i can't just post my custom panel file here because its nothing without the gauges that you need. I'll need your email address via PM to send the panel package. Somewhere in your soup is a gauge that's causing trouble.

Delta_Lima,

I don’t have Bearcat’s knowledge but I think he’s onto it. How do you cause a CTD? Well it must be easy ‘cause I’ve done it so many times!

More specifically if one miss handles a pointer in "c" (variable which points to a variable in memory), then down she comes – it’s an easy typo to make. It’s just a guess but it makes complete sense that it could be a gauge. Remember that a "dot gau" file is a dll with the file extension changed to "gau". Yea, it’s brute force executable code – both very, very powerful and actually potentially dangerous.

(The really, really dangerous part - don't be scared by that. I have not yet seen an even suspect gauge but if I ever do SOH will be the first to know.)

"c" – yea, I know a little ...

Hello BC,

Installed the panel and gauge files - at first, when prompted to overwrite, only overwriting where your files where SAME or NEWER - still failed.

Frustrated, I overwrote "all" - and now it works ... weird. I hope that hasn't buggered another any other element of the Korea campaigns - but hey - I asked for help on the Banshee, got it, and now it works - so no complaints!! :ernae:

Many many kind thanks mate - nice to have payware quality planes (my first ever in CFS2) in this sim.

cheers,

dl

ooops ... campaign problem

So, yes, they worked well in "Free Flight" - so I assumed all would be well in the Bunker Hill campaign.

After installing the BH campaign with all possible patches, I used the Morton CFS2 swap utility to trade in the FS Shipyards Boxer, and the Banshee.

First problem was that when I loaded a mission, the aircraft didn't load in the "Player Aircraft" section. I would look in the list, and it wasn't there and would then proceed to hang the system - completely. Hard reboot every time.

To ensure it wasn't my own periodic idiocy at work, I swapped in the AH F9F - worked like a charm. So I know that the BH campaign will accept other aircraft - it somehow doesn't like the AH Banshee, at least in my present configuration.

Any ideas? It would such a shame after all this to not be able to fly this lovely plane in anything save "Free Flight" mode ...

thanks so much!

DL

First, open the DP in notepad and scroll down to the MISC section. Make your's like this:

[MISC_DATA]
unit_family=1
category=1
allegiance=3
max_group_size=8
min_speed=380
cruise_speed=424
max_speed=848
min_alt=150
cruise_alt=10630
max_alt=14173
entered_service=6/1/48 <<<----------- you're probably missing this
crew=1

Next, using the different texture entries in your aircraft.cfg, break all of your liveries into separate aircraft. Then choose the one(s) you want in-theater and try the swap again.

Perfect - your knowledge of these tiny obscure little fixes is legendary - many kind thanks!
