version 1.3 is on server...who want reinstall can as always login at shop redonwload and reinstall..who like as it is ...rest with last previous version... i will post some new skins to downlod FREE tomorrow. why stop the game?

ok epsi new 1.3 was just uploaded twenty minutes ago(without your gunsight) , you can share with others your gunsight .

I just picked up v1.3 and am pleased with my purchase. With three mdls, a bagful of paint schemes and a vintage airfield I think it's very reasonably priced. I had a question about my unlock code and it was handled promptly. Also, the v1.3 release addresses my initial nitpicks with the new texturing for the knobs and gunsight. Keep up the good work Icarus. :applause:

I noticed the aircraft were listed under Unknown for the developer so I fixed that up and thought I'd share an easy way of doing it for anyone who's comfortable with editing the aircraft.cfg files. Given so many paints, I wanted to be lazy and not do a whole bunch of Ctrl-C & Ctrl-V combinations :costumes: I don't have MS Word (installed on my gaming partition) and wanted to do a quick Search and Replace to add all the strings. Unfortunately, Notepad and Wordpad don't appear to easily support adding multiple lines in the replace operation. A little Google searching and I found a link to a free editor that supports what I needed (Metapad):

http://www.liquidninja.com/metapad/

Like any other tweaking, please make backup copies of your aircraft.cfg files before doing this. In may attempt to share, I don't want to add support headaches for Icarus. Using Metapad's Search and Replace function you can search for:

ui_type=Gladiator

and replace it with:

ui_type=Gladiator\nui_createdby="Icarus Gold"\nui_typerole="Single Engine Prop"

and its all done in one easy operation. :birthday2

Icarus, one thing I'd like to see to round out the Gladiators is the three bladed prop variant. I know that wouldn't be a simple tweak so I'd even be happy to pay for an upgrade if you decide to do one in the future.

Cheers,
Rick

yes in future there will be the three blade propeller and the seagladiator. ok thanks epsillon for share with others. Uploaded but where? can't find it or still have to be published?

It's not published yet...;)

My only concern with this otherwise beautiful Gladiator is that the textures used for the pre-war aircraft appear (in the screen-shots) to use the weathered and well used basic metal body. If you look at photos of actual pre-war RAF Gladiators you will see that they are immaculate. Not a spot of rust or "weathering". The textures for the pre-war aircraft should reflect this very well maintained appearance.

Don't get me wrong, I'll buy it - but I'd be happier with like new pre-war textures.

Bill

i will see if i can make a skin for you wihout weather effect, i will let you know

if i remember well the three blade propeller was in metal instead wood because of better performance in flight...not on landing but in flight real better. I have seen about this on a book...

Yes, the three-blade prop was metal. These were meant for the Mk. II and the Sea Gladiators and also eventually meant to retrofit all the Mk. Is. However, I believe there is photo evidence of Mk.IIs and SeaGladiators with the Watts prop ~ either mislabelled pics or wartime emergency requirements ~ which adds to the confusion. Interestingly, the most often used photo of a three bladed Gladiator is "Faith" which actually was using the prop and engine out of a Blenheim (so isn't the correct profile for 3-bladed Gladiators).

I found a few bits of info on the internet that might help but are far from definitive:

http://www.aeroflight.co.uk/types/uk/gloster/gladiator/gladiator.htm

"In-service experience with RAF squadrons had meanwhile highlighted the unsuitability of the Mercury IX/Watts propeller combination. In its place Glosters offered the Mercury VIII and three-bladed Fairey Reed metal propeller. The new version was called the Gladiator Mk II, and an initial order was placed in early 1938. By March 1938 sufficient metal propellers were available to launch a programme to retrofit all the Gladiator Mk Is with this propeller."

http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/aircraft/Gladiator.htm

Has a black and white picture of the three bladed version with its shorter spinner.

http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/1999/10/stuff_eng_profile_gladiator2.htm

Has some colour profiles which also talk about the metal three bladed prop.

Rick

One small point, I don’t seem to be able to find the included flights/missions on my installation also how do you find the scenery which comes with the aircraft on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Malta</st1:place></st1:country-region>?
One other question is it possible to disable the opening of the door so that I can fly with the canopy open?
Thank you Icarus for an excellent aircraft, it really is a joy to fly.

One small point, I don’t seem to be able to find the included flights/missions on my installation also how do you find the scenery which comes with the aircraft on Malta?

inside the zip file downloaded , there is a folder called flight simulator x files..this is installed inside the FSX/simbojects/airplanes/gladiator folder, just copy the content of flight simulator x files folder inside c:/My documents/flight simulator x files

then you will have two flights, load flight, select flight on the menu, gladiator at Malta and Gladiator back at Malta.

One other question is it possible to disable the opening of the door so that I can fly with the canopy open?

actually not is not possible.
