Well.... despite having to keep an ear on the 12h old pup, i'm still finding time to work on it... tail lines going on now.... :salute:

thanks Maarten, pupster is napping... parents get back Saturday afternoon, so until then i've just gotta nap whenever there's a lull... frigging nightmare :icon_lol:

ok.... it's getting there, just added some shading to the port nacelle, time to get onto the Panel lines....
 
Things are shaping up nicely in the paint shop, Sir Matt! :jump:

Meanwhile, back in the design studio, work continues on the interior model ...

I dropped in the A26 pilot from the studio of Jan Visser and he fits rather well. With the co-pilot, it is a nice snug fit.

Anyone have info on what cap/hats were worn by these pilots?
 
Milton i'd imagine they'd wear the 'peaked cap' like the B-17 crews of the era... gunners being the exception usually with their helmets....
 
a bit of a close-up, remember i'm working these textures at 2048*2048, once done i'll back the PSD's up and thats the dark-siders catered for, then resize and us Veterans will have a PSD set.... now onto right engine cowl and nacelle shading, then rivet the entire airframe....
 
I agree with Matt and the peaked garrison cap.Looking at footage of US Navy PBY crews,the garrison and headphones or no cap and just the headphones.Or mixed,one pilot with-one without.
Interior looking good by the way.:applause:

AAF crews probably used the peaked hats with the bill and a wire framed earphones with tan leather pads (I have some somewhere), note that boom mikes were far in the future due to the mike technology of the era. USN most likely wore either no hat or the fore and aft folding hats, or possibly a blue or buff baseball type hat (not backwards).

Sent Milton a first cut at the FDE the other day.

Ball caps back then. No boom mikes as Fliger said, but they did have throat mikes for coms within the aircraft.
