Allen,

This is another wonderful job, thank you so very much! :salute:

Thanks but don't forget about all the others that contributed to the aircraft!

Thank you, Allen!

Splendid upgrade!

A THOUSAND PARDONS

Thanks but don't forget about all the others that contributed to the aircraft!

Allen.....

You are quite right. I just re-read the original thread on the SB2U-3 Vindicator, and the list is a long one.
Thanks to ALL involved. Kelti, fibber, OW, TBird, BC, ....et al,....Wow, sorry the list is too long. A tremendous group effort.

ALLEN, KELTI, ET AL....

As Tony the Tiger would say...."GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT JOB!!!!!!!" :icon30:It looks beautiful!!!!:applause::wavey::guinness: Who would have thought a propellor would start this all....:salute:

Now for my next simple request..........J/K (for now anyway)

HATE TO BE A P.I.A....

...this is a beautifully done bird :applause: but I seem to be having a small problem. It is acting like a gooney bird. No matter what flap setting I use, with minimum attack level (stick), at empty weight it won't get airborne without stalling. I am using the MN_Pinglelap atoll as a test nest and when I use the old version bird it is up in half the runway. Any suggestions, or is anyone else experiencing this? Maybe I need to feed my bird some Viagra!!!!
Should the pilot be sent back to Pensecola for retrain and eval.?

Also I am far from a authority on the DP file ( I know it exists!!) but I did notice that there are numbers in the .dp "effects" section after the "BREAK" call. Isn't this what causes the clone problem in the game?

I don't stall but I end up using every bit of the runway to get er off the ground. Unstick at around 90 kts then I get the gear up right away.

Great work by all of you.

I tested it at Midway and got it off the ground at about 70 knots with a 1000lb bomb.

The old bird wasn't programed as SB2U-3. The SB2U-3 is around 2370 lbs heavier then the SB2U-1 and SB2U-2. Some 921 lbs were added to the empty weight alone. Than add in 1440 lbs for the new "wing" fuel tanks and larger main fuel tank that the SB2U-3 had yet the engine was never upgraded.

The SB2U-3 has a checklist that cover takeoff but the short of it is. Raise the tail at 55-60 knots and pull back the stick at 75-80 knots. You can try to cut the fuel load down. If you use 48% fuel load that will remove the fuel from the wing tanks and give a range of around 760 miles with no bombs using the listed cruise settings.

The model has/is breaking parts. The only time you should see a clone is if you slow the game down and watch from the outside as you crash into the ground.

LG gauge does not work

AH! AH! AH! :d

Allen,

in my SB2U 2d panel the stock F4F landing gear gauge does not work, but the undercarriage operates normally. I tried replacing it with different gauges/lights, none works.

I admit I haven't had the time to install the definitive SB2U-3 you posted, yesterday I only did a quick takeoff to test another l.g. gauge with the v.2 plane, could this be the problem?

Cheers!

The clone dose happen and most of the time if the gear is down. I've had it happen with the stocks as well.

With the Demo v.2 and Final the gauges are working fine for me. I have no idea why it is not working for you...

Any one else have an idea?

ALLEN

my previous on the .dp was not a criticism,or nitpick, it was something I noticed and thought maybe snuck through. I remember the big flurry of comments awhile back on the "extra" numbers in the ".dp"
I usually read everything in a file. I guess that the "SBU2_Vindicator check" was missed by me. I think I will retitle it "checklist".

BTW: I followed all your strivations on this and realized the weight difference, but the "1" model was used as a type comparison.

This truely was/is a great piece of work. Thank you..:salute:

An upgrade for the Panel

Hi Allen,
I got the final version. She is fine and tricky to fly, like the real bird... Thanks again for the job !

After looking at the picts of panel you put in the file, I made an upgrade so as it looks closer to the real one.
Mostly :
- I made a lower panel popup and a throttle panel popup,
- I changed the upper compass gauge by one I made out using for basis a compass gauge made in 1999 by Max Roodveldt (I will have to ask his permission to upload this new spécial SB2U compass gauge),
- I tweaked the stock f4f4_wildcat gauges to get cleaned gauges (wihtout bolt) in the VC panel.
You can see the result in the following picts

If you think it is worthwile, I can upload this panel and the "new" gauges

Cheers

Normally you’re right about .dps. Most aircraft don’t have breaking parts. It is a lot of work to cut the model apart and get all of the parts linked right in the hierarchy. Because a lot of the “new” CFS2 aircraft are FS2004 converts you need to remove the BREAK #s as they were not made with breaking part logic as it is not need in FS2004.

You can use the checklist ingame by pressing “C” The checklist is programmed like all the stock aircraft have.

I knew every one would ask what I did as the SB2U-3 would be very heavy and hard to takeoff fully loaded. I even asked my self what I had did to it for a while too.

Beepee

Looks good. You can send me the panel once you get permission and I'll add it to the main download.
