Sibwings An-2 is released

I love the Beast from the East also

small squawk - the wind noise when you open the sliding windows in flight is ...not good
The boys at Aerosoft got it right on the PBY - great sound effect

small squawk - still looking her over but what a masterpiece the VC is - much like the PBY and the Hughes racer

I saw this An-2 on the field... slipped the guy $20 bucks if I could just sit in the cockpit! Next thing I know, I was up in the air! I saw a video on youtube on how to start this baby up.
I know I missed some stuff, but hey... it's in the air... for how long who knows! :icon_lol:
Just shows ya how easy it is to start up .. then I was looking .. looking .... looking that hill is getting very .. Oh silly me .. its a AN-2 :icon_lol:

Now just were where ya .. somewhere in the US backwoods were Colts and Bears have no fear to tread :kilroy:

When we went to Wanaka Last year me and my dad were so surprised to see a dirty old colt stuck at the museum there, later i learn it use to fly over NZ and found a video of it at dairy flat on you tube, the guys at the museum said that they are restoring this Russian marvel, cant wait to see it in the air again

Do we have to go to a cold start? When I switch to the An-2 I have engine running, morse code letter H is repeating and moving the cowl flaps switch with the mouse and roller does not increase or decrease the cowl flaps at all...same with the oil shutter. I can find no mention of audio signals in the manual so I've no idea what the "H" means. I'm wondering if I should have checked to see if there was a quick start option as I just don't have the time to pour over the manual in it's entirety.

Aircraft will load with engine running but you have to turn on the circuit breakers for the various systems from cowl and oil flaps to wing flap and trim motors, AH, gyrocompass, etc. Most of the breaker switches are on the upper center of the panel.

And I brought her back in one piece... worth the $20 admission price!

I purchased this also! Wow what a beast! Saw one of these at Waddington airshow a few years back and it taxied down the runway then took off in a jiffy!

Started first time but soon had an engine fire! Second time bit more succesful, no fire just loads of smoke...

Not having any experience at all in the Russian way of aviation, I noticed pretty quickly that there is a lot I need to re-think in terms of operating this biplane beast. Never flown in one so far, but sat in a few on ground static display or as museum exhibits. This is a great addon for FSX, one long awaited. I wonder how it will compare to the Aerosoft version when it comes out.

I noticed a regular intermittent pause in the inertia starter run up as someone here has already mentioned. Just adding this to say that not only one is affected.

Need to visit the sibwings forum. My last addon from them is the Safir, which I always thought was groundbreaking when it came out...

ijay ,

Did you see the little window that is hiding behind the main Blue FSX loading intro screen asking to allow :

.....\SibWings\Service\swservice.dll & ..... GAUGES\swan2.DLL.

My install hung up on the intro screen of FSX...( registration & validation as discussed above all went normally )... and it just sat there with that little circle thingy spinning 'round & 'round for minutes until I remembered that another install sometime ago did the same thing.
Put your mouse down on the task bar and see if there is another window behind the main FSX intro window.... ie; Windows 7 64-bit...

Yeah, had that window also but FSX just CTD!
Have had another suggestion from Alex on the SibWings forum which i will try later, not at my FSX PC at the moment.
He suggests that i'm running FSX in compatibility mode (WHICH I AM!!) and that i turn it off (WHICH I WILL BE DOING!)
Hope this will work but thank you for your help it is appreciated

Six paints with the package and the first one out of the starting blocks VH-CCE looks brill :applause: doing the math here 19,993 paints to go :icon_lol:<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

Thanks! I've sussed it now I discovered the circuit breakers. It is quite forgiving though as long as the black smoke trail isn't too long. I'm now really enjoying the An-2!

Just out of curiosity, is anyone else able to shutoff the ADF morse code identifier sound? Whenever I'm tuned it to an ADF, I get the audible identifier. Although there is an ADF volume knob in the VC, it is nonfunctional per the User's Guide. Flipping the ADF circuit breaker kills the sound, but obviously shuts down the entire ADF as well. I tried mapping a keyboard key from the default FSX radio controls, but to no avail.

This is still an outstanding plane! Great frame rates and a stunning VC!

EDIT - Disregard. Seems that others are having the same issue and have posted on the Sibwings forum.

I have tryed that too. I would bet that they are sending a key command in the model code that turns it right back on again. Since there is no xml code to look at or modify, we will have to wait for the modeler to fix this particular problem.
