Manfred's Douglas C-47 Reloaded (Beta)

Any news please, I am getting withdrawal pains and my keyboard is covered in drooooowl again.:isadizzy::pop4:

Flash....hot off the press.

Manfred and team are working on the final code and tweaks.

I have completed two cockpits, one airline with slight wear and the second typical C-47 OD green with average wear.
There are two complete paint kits and the troops are salivating at the possibilities. Don't worry. There is a hand sanitizer dispenser in the cockpit. Great for sticky kneeboards.

Manfred and I are working out the final night lighting for the cockpit textures. The exterior skins are ready.

TuFun is working on the sound like a mad scientist quietly in the background...well, not so quietly considering he has a rather robust sound system at home. Just keep throwing him Hershey bars. I would expect you will be seeing a video of the finished cockpits shortly.

We're close....should I add upholstery cleaner in the cockpit?

There's a lot of happy people (including me) with that announcement Gman:applause: Cheers to all the team:ernae:

Fantastic news, all of (well some of) Redding, California is celebrating the close arrival of the C-47. Thanks for the update gman. We will be watching. :icon_eek:

No need to have it in the cockpit but make sure you leave a couple of cans in the cleaner's kit :icon_lol:.

Like Roger I am eagerly awaiting the release of this aircraft. I am then hoping that Manfred will keep going with the DC-3 version and add more windows, especially where the radio operator and Navigator's area was just behind the cockpit in the C-47. Would also like to see the Viewmaster model as well. Sadly the Viewmaster seems to go missing from any DC-3 release.

No rush on them though.

OMG...wow...holy smokes.....wow....i want...

I just obtained the new PMDG 777 and yep....WOW!!!
I compared that beautiful aircraft with the MJ C-47...the DAK ain't no slouch. This is probably the finest freeware I have seen to date, and I'm not being partial to my work. This was a worthy project when I jumped in and look what she is becoming.

Manfred was going over my textures and realized that the schematic on the cockpit bulkhead door was the C-117 and not the C-47, so we changed it. When you look close you will see the appropriate flat head or oval head phillips screws in the instrument cluster. The rivet counters will be challenged to find much out of place.

Right now I'm fine tuning the .dds textures to find the right balance of detail and FPS. Currently, I'm making over 40 FPS in high def environments.
TuFun is working on a single remaining sound file...the fly by external to get the sound just right.

This clean cockpit feels like being in fine automobile. While the guys are tuning the sound and .mdl files, I keep adding little bits of polish to the textures.
I know you guys are anxious, but trust me...the wait will be rewarded with a beautiful example of creative teamwork and a passion for excellence.

Pat, I think the awesome4some DC-3 pack includes the Viewmaster (?)

As to this one, some truly excellent work all round - and many thanks to the various contributors posting in this thread. Great to be able to watch the development.

. . slurp, wipe, dribble . . .

Yes it does contain the viewmaster but does not have the correct window arrangement and being basically the default Microsoft model it is also very hard to repaint because of reversed textures.

Like you say Manfred and his team are doing a great job. Looking forward to the release date.

Getting close to that famous Dak radial flyby sound!!!

Video of the cockpit showing the lighting and civil/military style interior coming soon... stay tune!

Obviously its a sim, but watching that video, with the distinctive and beautifully modeled aircraft, the superb sound set and that huge sky, its not difficult to imagine you are watching it in real world. Great stuff TuFun.

I would say the sound is darn near as good as it's gonna get without having the actual aircraft parked outside my house. Excellent work TuFun! :salute:

Absolutely stunning and fly-by sounds in flight sim have traditionally been a real weak spot. I think TuFun's fly-by sounds are stunning. Outstanding work by all who have combined their forces to bring the FSX world two wonderful aircraft. :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

Did I just see a checklist on that in-cockpit animated clipboard? Cool!

Oh, and you might need to fix the latches on the overhead emergency escape hatch. It looks like it blew off twice in the video. :icon_lol:
