WOW!!!! You guys just cock at this repainting stuff. Thanks for all your work. But more importantly (for me), thanks for sharing it all;-)))

I've been flying the Soriana freighter from Vientiane to Long Tieng. I really enjoy this beast. Pretty stable even at 80 knots. I like the extra power and big rudder. A couple of questions though:

A) is there a fuel flow meter?
B) seems like when I set the VLOC freqs in the 530 it affects the "active" window rather than the standby window. Same for COM freqs.
C) is there a landing gear position indicator? (I like to see three greens)
D) is there an indicator for cowl flaps position?
E) where is the cowl flap actuator? (I've been using a shortcut key)
F) do you arm the autofeather for take-off? If so when do you disarm it? 1000'AGL? Cruise Alt?
G) shouldn't the prop controls be ridged and the throttle controls smooth rather than vice versa?
H) is there a carb heat control??

Lots to like about this aircraft. I love the interactive load list that gives you a trim setting for T/O based on CG.

Thanks,

Obie

Obie, look on flightsim.com for a file called fuelflow.zip. You will need to manually add it to your panel but it will give you such information as flow at GPH, Range and time to empty.

A) Already answered.

B) Maybe it's just like that. Did you read the manual?

C) Did the real thing have one? Otherwise, just use the tooltip on the lever.

D) Eyeball Mk.I or the control panel popup.

E) Not yet implemented. Remember, it's a beta model!

F) Do you even need autofeather in a piston aircraft?

G) *Shrug*

H) Yes, on the overhead (but not specifically labeled as such).

Wow Bjoern, are you one of the developers on this? Why are you so dismissive and defensive? I love and appreciate the hardwork that went into making this a/c but, if it's a Beta as you say, why aren't you more receptive to input on impressions and corrections?

A) Already answered.

B) Maybe it's just like that. Did you read the manual? Yes and no specific mention is made of it not entering into the standby window as it is in the RW GPS.

C) Did the real thing have one? Otherwise, just use the tooltip on the lever. I don't know. I can't imagine a retract being certified w/o a gear position indicator. If you have access to POH or NATOPS you could check

D) Eyeball Mk.I or the control panel popup. Cowl Flaps not visible from VC only spot view. Which control panel popup?

E) Not yet implemented. Remember, it's a beta model! Great thanks.

F) Do you even need autofeather in a piston aircraft? I don't know if you do or not. The original DC-3 had two prominent red emergency feather buttons on the overhead and the C-117 has an autofeather control in the O/H panel.

G) *Shrug* What does this mean? Those controls have a different feel for a very good reason

H) Yes, on the overhead (but not specifically labeled as such). OK I guess this implies it will eventually be fixed.

I am not a developer for this model, I just did not want to let your questions stand unanswered.

Remember, that the VC supplied with the C-117D is straight from the BT-67 with some quick adaptions regarding the different engine types.
Also, again, the whole package is clearly labeled as "BETA", so it can have all the faults in the world.

I am relatively new to flight simming so perhaps I misunderstood the protocol. I thought the purpose of releasing a Beta is to identify and correct faults prior to full release, not to chastise those who point out the shortcomings.

The C-117 and C-47 are very much beta. The cockpit is under development as we speak. Manfred will be looking at, and taking into consideration all of the contributions from everyone who has posted in this and the Manfred Jahn C-47 blog. The instrumentation is pretty much a direct port over. I've done the external art, paint kits and cockpit art for both aircraft. Gauge locations and functions have not been finalized, but things are coming along quickly. The finalized improvements will be released in due time.

Thanks Gary for your reply as well as your good work on the cockpit and thanks to Manfred's group as well. I love the Basler and wanted to contribute to excellence of the C-117. I was not aware of his blog.

Actually, it can also serve as a deterrent for nagging inquiries for a release date or as a quick cash generator.

But beta or not, trust me that Manfred is, by 99.99%, aware of the issues you've pointed out. If you're a bit familiar with his track record, you know that the final product is as good as it gets. :)

So omnipotent one, I take it your point is, I shouldn't have posted at all? Buzz off pal!

Ok Odie and Bjoern, time to cool it. I don't want to close this thread as it has been a great one. Any more problems between you guys and it will close. :cowboy:

VC

HI.The vc is is looking outstanding great work. The only thing that sticks out, is the wind screen frame.Like to see more detail like groves were the glass fits, also bolts around the wind screen.Don't want to get any one upset. This what I see.
