Over at Flightsim....

This is a really nice little flyer, Morton did an excellent 2D Spitfire panel that works flawlessly in the PR.XI, and Lawdog has some excellent Merlin sounds right here in the library that will get this Spit airworthy. Very nice looking visual model.

Again very nice, thanks Chris. There is a VC in there, with a hex tweak, and a polish for PR slippery-ness. (See attached mdl).

It's also converted to CFS2, so no glightstates or crashcheck probs. So perfectly usable in both FS9 and CFS2.

No suspension for main gears ?
 
I reckon you could just let a little air out of the tires on the main gear, to make the landing a bit more squishy...:a1310:

No... Just KIDDING! :biggrin-new: This is a pretty simple model, in its early stages still. Not real sure if Chris is going to re-vamp the model file to add any more enhancements like main strut suspension. One thing I did notice is that if you're parked with the brakes locked, rev the engine up a little and watch the torque from that, tilt the plane to the left in the spot view. I like that a lot. Not to many other planes in me freeware collection do that... very realistic. And if you go around the corners a little too fast... she'll come up on 2 wheels and you might scrape the wing on the tarmac.

Blimey... that's it!!! you're grounded!

There is only slight suspension with the model, but even the original ac did not have much movement in the supsension either.

Here's another aircraft.cfg for the correct eye viewpoint in the VC, and a male pilot texture...see attached.

It does look good, but is there a way with some utility to remove the lights from the model? On my PC they look a bit unnatural (as do most modeled lights on my old rig). Then I can add some smaller lights in the config file.

But the flight dynamics looks rather hard the first time, for me...

I'm working on a 2D panel (with an excellent CFS2 base by Morton), minipanel, effects, lights...

According to the link, the PR.XI had a maximum takeoff weight of just over 8000 lbs. That's pretty light considering wing load to weight, given a full fuel compliment. The PR.XI had a Rolls Merlin 70 engine and it would seem that with 1,650 HP, that would be more than enough for it to easily cruise around 350 MPH at altitude. Provided the pilot had the mixture and the prop settings optimal. 2,800 HP??? That would really be a handful.:dizzy:

For panel,

Please, download and install the excellent panel of Morton, mk_SpitfireMK1-2Dpanel-wide.zip

Replace the needed following files at the following subfolders :

Flight dynamics, effects, gauges, panel. I added light green visor in 2D panel of Morton, and in minipanel.
The visors are adjusted and work well with flight dynamics.

Maybe needed to adjust the [Views] , in aircraft file... but I watched an interesting thing: in VC view the aircraft is fully modelled, and with 'Active camera 2004' , and the wheel of the mouse, we can get very nice angles of view, out of the cockpit...

Have FUN ...
