A little Blurry

Nice Plane but a little blurry on my monitor. Your older AA DC-3 was great, the lettering was sharp and crisp on my rig.

Could it be caused by "mips"? If he included mip maps, that'll cause the blurries.

That rings a bell. I remember Jan Kees telling me one time on a plane I did a little touch up on to uncheck the use mipmap in DXTBMP then re-save it and
the blurries were gone.

Try setting your TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 in your fsx.cfg file in order to see Hanimichals paint as it is supposed to be. You probably have it set at a lower value. This will of course affect your performance.

I opened all the dds files and did not see the use Mip Maps include box checked in DXTBMP. Everything is in DXT 5 4096 X 4096 format.

Much Better

I found and changed the TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD to 4096 it was set to 512.

Thanks Dimus for the tip. Maybe I can just leave the setting at the higher number as the performance doesn't seem to wane.

For some reason anytime you change anything in the FSX scenery options menu, the TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD defaults back to the lower value by itself. I have a copy of the fsx.cfg on my desktop and can quickly check if it's still 4096, if not I change it right there before loading FSX.

it happens if your GPU / CPU or Ram memory can't support the FSX settings,
however using the Frosty Software Texture Load is easier, run it and check setting before run FSX https://www.google.com.br/search?cl...+Load+Editor&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

No, it defaults back to 1024 whenever you change any settings regardless of your GPU or CPU. It's kind of a pain to always be changing it back whenever I change any graphics settings (except FPS limiter)

Can someone link me to Gman's alternate VC texture file in the library, please ? Once again the procedure for searching the library has me baffled. One day I get it, the next day I don't. I've even put my face close to the monitor and shouted the file name - but still no result.

Thanks

Available here with the two cockpit vc versions...

"Two cockpit variants are included. One represents a modern cockpit with light use. The second cockpit maintains the modern layout, but shows the wear we associate with the DAK."

~cough, cough, cough.... cough!~ Yep, I'd say either it has been sitting for a very long time or the engines are very well worn and ready for overhaul or replacement. ~cough, cough!~ :applause:
