Avsim

It’s not down , its overwhelmed with hits , i have not been able to post today’s files even.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Talking with Tom about it this morning i was informed the News Aces was closed has caused so many hits that there is insufficient bandwidth to accommodate the traffic to the forums and Front page<o:p></o:p>

<o:p>Things should return to normal once the idea sinks in that MS has canned the finest group of Avation & Train modellers ever assembled under the same roof ..... </o:p>

I can get to the main page and the library page OK, but
when I attempt to get to the forums I get an all white
page with the message
"IPS Driver Error"
"There appears to be an error with the database."
"You can try to refresh the page by clicking here"

in the upper left corner.

It's been like that for me since sometime this afternoon ( Sat. 24th )

It was fine for me until America woke up, then it went fine again after most of Europe went to bed.

Fortunately, I was able to get the files I needed from flightsim.com in the meantime, so I wasn't that worried. I've disliked the Avsim forums and many of its denizens for years anyway, so I only really miss it when I can't find something I need, like the patches for the default Cub and Goose to make them work better... ;)

(The Cub is here, but the Goose isn't.)
 
Actually I had to chuckle over what I saw when I logged on to AvSim's forum mainpage...

The first item on their news page was, of course, about ACES
The second item was a request for someone to help, or take over managing their servers/database

So I go to the link in the first post to read the blog and what do I get???
The IPS database error...

Yep!! better get a response to #2.. quick!:help:

Funny thing is, Avsim didn't have the news for many hours after we posted it already. But it seems SOH and simFlight readers and forum visitors are more level headed than those on Avsim. No panic here that I can see.

Or maybe we just use better technology ? :gossip:
 
I still can't get in to the forums.... Each try and it offers me my last DL again...LOL

I need AS6 tech help....:faint:
 
I still can't reach the forums there either. Oh well, I'm not crazy about the new software anyway and have been spending more time here and at Flightsim.com.

I never go to their forums either I just check the new files every day.
