JF F27 released! (29th April)

Never mind, operator error, (RED FACE). Just need to be patient with the little quirks of such systems & programming(real aircraft can throw curve balls). Now time to give it a shakedown.

Very impressive! I have to say, the best JF model I have bought/used to date. As for the pros and cons, I agree with gman5250, the only criticism (constructively said) is that a model this nice could use some texture improvement(the current textures are far from horrible by any measure) and also capitalizing on DX11 lighting. Otherwise, for me, I have long passed the point in which I have become very picky about what I spend money on nowadays(especially with Flight Sim addons and hardware). Average or great looking models with average/below average systems modeling & flight dynamics, etc are things I won't even look at to buy anymore unless is passes my standard of what I know I will enjoy and go back to repeatedly to ejnoy. That being said, this model was a very pleasant surprise and a good balance of overall value for the price and it's obvious you guys really raised the bar on your quality with the F27 and it beat out a couple of other models I had my eye on recently. BTW, the engine out handling & performance is darn nice. In these screens, I did a v1 cut and got her cleaned up and trimmed post liftoff for a single engine emergency approach and landing. The ground handling on a single engine was better than most turboprop/piston prop models I have flown in FSX to date. PS, a Piedmont and Golden Knights repaint are dearly hoped for!!!

Is anyone else having an issue with the right engine running away on start? Left engine starts fine but no matter what, the right always starts and runs away. I am using an X55 HOTAS system and both throttles move independently but this is odd.

I have the X55 HOTAS set up too. Just make sure you have your brakes set. Turbo props can get ahead of you. Also, these dont react instantaneously to additional thrust applied. Jets take time to build up to it.

Very true! I did follow the checklist and made sure the brakes where set, I just goofed up and somehow caused the right engine to "act" as if it was a runaway(not sure if that was intentionally coded in or not). Boy, there sure is a lot of nice nuances in the model and systems. The soundset sure is nice as well and very calibrated to what the F27 sound like versus other RR Dart powered ships.

Storm, I totally echo your observations--particularly about this being the best JF model I've also bought to date.

What I think is cool is flying with this thing like small US carriers did in the 60's and early 70's:

- Lots of short legs
- The chance to do "quick turn station stops" like I remember seeing Bonanza and Air West do on the west coast (land, taxi in, chop the left engine-- but keep the right one running, pop the front cargo door open for cargo and bags, back boarding door is open, a few pax are exchanged, the doors are closed, left engine is fired back up, and off you go....about a 15 minute turn)

Overall, I'm happy with it-- except wish we had the Fairchild variants w/airstair....but what the heck, what we have now is filling a big hole in FS.

For those who may(or may not) have issues with using VOR navigation with this model, if you want a "GPS cheat" with the GPS/NAV switch capability, here's how to get it to work by modifying the panel configs in both models:
[Window Titles]
Window00=Eyepoint tool
Window01=GPS //<-----add this line

[Window01]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=456,378
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=8
visible=0
ident=GPS_PANEL
window_size= 0.500, 0.560
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,0,456,378
gauge01=..\..\Maule_M7_260C\panel\Maule_M7_260C!switch_nav_gps, 0,200,15,25

From my testing, this mod works perfectly and does not interfere with the Autopilot functions. It may not be realistic to the vintage feel of the model but it's an option. Bear in mind there will be no visible GPS/NAV switch in the VC or 2D popup, you'll need to assign the function to your stick/throttle or keyboard.

The price was right with the introductory offer...so, I picked it up.

Pros:

I'm in agreement that, overall, this is a good solid offering.
Flight model
Modeling
Dynamics
Systems
Paint Kit (thank you).

Cons:
Not really a con, but to remain contemporary with other models in the same price bracket, textures need more attention to adding realistic details and interactivity with state-of-the-art DX11 light dynamics. This model, like others, is one that I would immediately take to the paint shop to bring it up to a really fantastic representation of the real thing. Both cockpit and external.

If you do that GMAN "I would immediately take to the paint shop to bring it up to a really fantastic representation of the real thing. Both cockpit and external" I will be all over it like a fat kid on cake!!! Your work on the DH114 is just amazing!!

Cheers,
Tim...

Interesting. Tried the central rotary switch on the lighting switch panel above the windscreen?:engel016:

Hello bazzar. Here are some screen shots of my cockpit with all lights turned on but it seems very dark to me.... Maybe this is what it is suppose to look like?? Yes? I do get a quick "flash" when I flick the two panel light switches but it then goes dark again?:topsy_turvy:

If lighting is tied to FSX lighting it may not show untill a certain time try night time not evening.

Your lights are definitely not showing in your shots. There is surface lighting as well as back lighting in the gauges. I can see you don't have essential services switches on but try them later in the day and night. They will not show in daylight.:engel016:

The instrument lights work fine at night....but why do they not work during the day? For this exact scenario it makes the instruments hard to read!?! Can this be fixed in a patch some time maybe?

P.S. I must have the short version of the manual because there is no mention of switching the "essential services switches" -where ever they are- to on?

Here is another shot of my cockpit with the lights on. Do you agree it looks quite dark?

Your lights are not on Tim. You should see green backlit text on the panels an surface lighting too.:engel016:

I don't know what you're doing wrong man. This is what you should be seeing.:engel016:

Like I said before in my post...I can get the panel lights to work at night. They just do not seem to show during the day!?! I will post some "day/night" shots for you to compare.

My night shots look the same as your picture. Maybe if you could post a shot of your panel lighting during the day..?

Tim I think it time you contacted JF. This is not a support forum and although we built the models this is a Just Flight production and all reports need to go through them. I'm sorry but I can't help at this range. I am not sure I have any aircraft whose lights light up during daylight hours.:engel016:

Tim, I have one more suggestion. Go into the Aircraft CFG and remove the two lines in front of the VC light entry. The option of disabling the VC light was used because I think it unnatural. However, it MAY improve things for you.:engel016:

You are right...I will contact JF. I guess I got carried away. Thanks for your input.:wavey:
