Here's some shots of Frank's Alp's scenery, which uses 20cm to 1m resolution. You will have to email him for the download links. Totals about 1GB. Looks like he takes his own photo's of the mountain faces.

Holy crap!

That's incredible... on my reviewing list now!

Simply amazing! Hope Frank doesn't get overwhelmed with all the emails for these links.

With scenery like this who needs to travel, just hop in fsx and see the world as it really is. Love it!!!!!!

:jawdrop: If you hadn't of said it was scenery screenshots SE, I'd have thought it was the real thing. Fantastic scenery.

I vote it "Scenery of the Year". :applause:

I got a woody now. They are some sweet looking shots. Those are about the best mountain shots I have seen....ooops...I hope Panther doesn't see these:woot:

Thanks for the comments, but its easy to grab nice shots with that kind of scenery. I actually only had about 10 minutes to grab those as it was late, so I'll try to get some more.

Now that I know how to add scenery via the library given the win7 bug I need to install Nils' autogen for the grand teton and give that a try.

Small question, not related specificly to this but any scenery..... how do i get rid of the blurries in the distance? Because im dying to fly with that sharpness and clarity in my scenery like in the screenshots and not have a square of crystal clear textures and then blurries of doom beyond.

Two things:

1) Find this line in your FSX.cfg file and change the value from 4.5 to something in the 8-12 range.

[TERRAIN]
LOD_RADIUS=12.000000

This will extend the radius in which the sharpest textures are drawn.

2) Zoom out the camera in-game. Zooming out all the way produces the sharpest textures, which is .30 zoom, but .40 or .50 also makes for sharp textures while not distorting things as much at .30.

LOD_RADIUS=12.000000 works in the wilderness..... but causes FSX to run out of memory and crash on Honolulu with MegaSceneryX Hawaii.....
As well as some horrible stuttering and choppyness before that and clouds just remain squares in the sky.

Edit:
Did a bit of extra experimenting and did get it working by using the 3GB switch(which i had turned off due to incompatibility with FC2), however once i reached the same point again i got even more stutters, so i think i need more physical RAM since it seems to be running out of it and switching over to the page file.

For now ive settled with 9 instead of 12, more than twice the default value anyway, and ive managed to get rid of some of the stutters and framerate drops by lowering my multiplier from 80 back to 40 and setting a 50mb poolsize. But im still get a few drops/stutters now and then that i am not entirely happy with... ideas?

WOAH! i e-mailed Frank last night and got the download links today....
I really never bothered with scenery that does not have autogen as i have always felt autogen makes it come alive more in FSX..... but WOW! with this secenery set its simply just fantastic without any autogen, in fact i think autogen here would in fact detract from realism. :faint:

Could flight simulator finally be living up to its motto....as real as it gets?

By the way it also makes for some terrific flying with Real Environment Xtreme with 4096x4096 HD clouds!

Shameless self plug, but there's some info here that I hope will help.
