64-bit computer

What OS will you be running, how much RAM and what speed, what graphics card? A lot of variables go into how well a system can run the programs. The processor is a lot more than my 3.0Ghz P4 and it has no problems running FS9.

Thanks for the reply. The computer has Inter Core I5, 3 GHz. I have to get Windows 7. I like to use FSDS 3.5 from Abacus for aircraft design work, but FSDS works better on Windows XP. So I think I will use the 'puter to run FSX smoothly.

I don't think you'll have any problems with the CPU.
Your video card and RAM also play into the equation (as OBIO already mentioned.

If you do have the choice, Win7 Pro and Ultimate have the capability to run an XP Mode. 7 HomePremium (and below) doesn't offer this option though.
This can help with some of those programs that don't like to run on 64-bit Win7.

I run Windows 7 (64 bit) on my desktop using FSDS 3.5 with no problems at all. In fact, I don't see a difference between laptop with XP installed using FSDS 3.5 and the desktop. I do a lot of work on the laptop and then transfer the file to the desktop for compile/testing for both FS9 and FSX.

Now I did have an issue with my install of 3.5 as it required Version 2 first then the V3 upgrade as that is how I purchased it. Getting the full (non-upgrade) for FSDS 3.5 installed with no problems at all.

Hi

I am running FSX, FS9 & CFS2 on an i5 (overclocked to 3.2 GHz) with 4 GB of ram and a 512 Mb Nvidia GTS 250, Windows Home Premium 64 bit.

Needless to say CFS2 & FS9 both crank without issue. I can get a stable 25 fps on FSX with high levels of autogen and moderate amounts of ai traffic. Even before I overclocked the system was pretty good.
