A Lockheed "Rounder"

Man oh man... glad to see you back Nigel! :jump: I decided to follow your inspiration! Created my first sound pak!

I think you'd easily qualify as the most prolific FS9 developer these days!

Hmmm, maybe, everyone has left us to our wares here, stuck in the past and missed the boat off the island. :)

Hopefully we can still have some fun and generate a bit of excitement to disrupt the quiet on occasion. :mixedsmi:

Nigel, old chap! How great to see you're back! :jump:
I hope you're well.
It is too quiet without you around!

Cheers,
Maarten:guinness:

Spoken well here... and what a quiet place it has been as of late. Good to have you back Nigel! New engines will break up the silence just a bit. We never missed the boat... we just got "dropped off". LOL!!:guinness:

EMatheson, Matt, TuFun, Maarten, PeteHam, BB686, Hurricane91;

Gentlemen, heartfelt thanks to the warm welcome from all.

Listening to someone elses music will be a welcome treat, TuFun - can't wait!

Matt; I'll catcha squaddie!

Maarten...I didn't duck!
(Wish we could make them sound like that in sim!

Pete; Bugger!

BB686; apart from a very attractive flag I appear to have aquired from you, I'll have some suitable decibels for you shortly! {{:USA-flag:}}

Hmmm, I do believe you're writing the most beautiful poetry as well as granting us exquisite aircraft.

BB686 hit the nail - the good person who burn't the boat, was our own undercover operative; the island's ours, there's a long ruddy airstrip and for supplies...

I do believe a certain fine Gentleman will be Bountious, m'hearties!

Let's go a fishin'. :wiggle:

Looking forward to it mate! I'll let the receiving dept. know. And as for me flag... wait a minute... what?? Oh Buggah! Not AGAIN!!!

Out of curiosity, what is the status on this project? Now that we're seeing the beginnings of a Lodestar, I'm interested in seeing the final disposition of this Harpoon!
I suppose we also have waiting in the wings for completion -F7F revamps - Heavy Italian Metal I can't remember the name of - and this. (Considering the Fleet 50 as complete as it has reached its stated design goals - ish.)

Thank you for your patience on this project. I wish I had a simple answer for you, but no. Read on.

Last year when we were in the last stages of doing textures for the Harpoon, we had to put a long term hold on this project. In the meantime, I took a break from design work for about 9 months after 2012-2013 tremendous output by the team members (something like 22 different models released and more updated or freshened up.)

In September, I started easing back into it with a gmax instructional project, the Fleet 50 being the object used. That project changed after 4 weeks when a few members wanted to participate, and one wanted to do a native FSX conversion. Real life stepped in for those team members in December before that was totally done so I released that project as I originally intended, finished only to the point where others could step in and produce sounds, paints, panels, effects, whatever to make it kind of a SOH membership project. Seems there was little interest in that by membership but fortunately Garry stepped up to do some paints and panel work for this classic design. I have 6 remaining models with different engines, one gman5250 paint scheme, and Magoo's flight models to release at some point. The FSX native project was set aside for the author's own project priorities. In hindsight, I should have stayed the original course I guess but its hard to turn away willing talents. :) The final release of the other model variants was awaiting CAHS release of some historical documentation which is slow to come, and now seems a different tract will be taken. So, at this point, on hold.

Once that was done, I jumped back into the Republic XP47J/H VC work in January that has been pending for 3 years. I had redone the VC twice but unhappy with results, so one final last push and I got them done a couple weeks ago. The two aircraft are in Nigel's and Duckie's hands now for artwork.

When Nigel lost his solar system late 2012 or early 2013, we had a lot of work in process that essentially went on hold. Just as well because we were both kind of burned out. He got that repaired this past Fall/early Winter and we talked about strategy to move forward. We agreed that the XP47's should get done first before we got back on the Harpoon for various reasons. So along with Duckie's XP47H work (3 paint schemes), Nigel has completed 7-8 schemes for the J in addition to sounds, and is working on sounds for the H Chrysler V-16 SuperTurboCharged hummer.

Once the Republic project is completed, he will be back on the Harpoon textures, interior and exterior and paint kit, and she will be released.

Meanwhile, after the XP47 VC work was done, I was left with nothing to do so I decided to "toy" with doing the Lodestar. (Sorry hard to sit idle here.) After 2 weeks and before the RTWR, I made decent progress with fuselage, wing and tail revamps/redo's. After the race, I dove back in and have made decent progress in the last week.

I could have released the Harpoon not quite finished (but you see how the Fleet 50 experiment turned out) but decided to wait for Nigel to come back online. I enjoyed the break myself. :)

So, that's the general chronology of things and explains why we are where we are. Such is life.

Oh, forgot the "Heavy Italian Metal" question. :) The CANT Z1007.

Actually, that is Manuele's project of which I had a small part, doing the exterior model.

Manuele is doing all the heavy lifting there, and deserves all the credit for that one. My part I consider insignificant.

Not sure of his status but I suspect it is really close to completion.

Thanks for your detailed response, Milton. Glad to know this one is still in the pipeline - I can wait, I guess, for a little while.
Regarding the Fleet 50 - I was/am really excited about that one. If I only had time between classes and work, maybe I could get working on the interior of the plane! I enjoyed doing the interior for my "Hot Coals Cargo" livery for the C-1A Bush version - though it did take a lot of time and perhaps the results were a little dodgy, I enjoyed it. As it is, though, I don't give as much time to my real-world commitments as I should!

Milton - your explanation of events just shows how much work you and the crew put into these delightful works, for us ingrates who are hanging off every release!

Even more kudos to you and your team and thanks again for your dedicated work.:applause:

Very well said, SPMan. And as much as I am looking forward to the XP-47 and Harpoon, I still enjoy the classics. Earlier this week I went out for a joyride in the Rockwell 500 and the Puss Moth. Spartan is up next.

Thank You Milton for years of enjoyment!

Since it looks like May-June before we can get the Harpoon project out the door, I have decided to give you all a piece of the action in the form of the PV-2D model. Still very much a WIP but is a very enjoyable package to hand fly, enjoy the power, Nigel's sounds, and to get a feel of those Fliger747 hand-flying flight dynamics. The VC and 2D panels are still temporary but very functional. Olathe textures by Matt Wynn.

I need to run to the grocery store but will post it right here in a few hours.
