A 1946 Piper J-3 Cub with 100 hrs in the log book was discovered in an old hangar in Texas NC7057H was bought new by a rancher Mr Charles Mosely and flown from the Piper factory to his home, he sold the ranch and left the piper J-3 in the old hangar where a tree grew in front of the doors, it was left there until Mr Jared Calvert found out that there was an old plane parked in the hangar, when he was able to remove the tree and doors there sat the Piper J-3..almost in perferct condition except for the fabric that a deterriated from the wings and fuslage, he bought the plane and is now being completly restored.

Cheers

My Dad's Taylorcraft story isn't as old, but similar. He found an old T-Craft on sale last may, so we drove to Riverside to check it out. Minus the bungies and some patches of fabric, there sat a nearly mint-condition T-Craft that had not been flown for 20 years.

Beautiful wooden propeller, brand new engine with less than 20 hours on it, and restored by the Legendary Ed Marquart. When he found out it was actually Ed's old plane, he purchased it for a steal at 9 grand. Minimal restoration work needed, he said that price was simply unbeatable. :ernae:

This is like the greatest myth there is in historic aviation...even making it more cool..... we talk about it, we tell stories about it, but rarely do you find the ellusive "warbird in the barn".......

While A2A makes about the best sim planes around, there is nothing wrong with the Flight Replicas J-3.

Here's a paint I just did of the newly found old crate using the Flight Replica J-3.

I get trapped into which forum I'm in sometimes, the Flight Replica J-3 is for FSX.

Paint will go up tomorrow. Right now I am pummping water out of my basement, lotsa rain.
